Went to the beach this evening

Went to the beach this evening This evening I decided I would go to the beach and take some photos of the sun going down, however, I’m on the wrong side of Devon to see the sun going below the sea, need to be on the north coast, oh well, just about my luck really. Maybe better luck next time. It was kinda sad really going to beach on my own and no one to go with me then again I’m sure they would have been bored to death with me taking photos. Yes, I adore sunsets even better if you are with someone. There weren't many people on the beach time I had got there, about 8:30, the set was said to set at 9:19pm so I had plenty of time, however, there were hills in the way with being on the wrong coast. I took over 300 photos and I’m pleased with a handful of them. At one point I braved the coldness of the sea for 20 minutes of so to get some shots, took my feet forever to get warm again. I left the beach around 10pm with just enough light to see where I was going. The photos are, the top one was taken not too long after I got there and the bottom one was taken about 20 minutes before I left the beach.

They are both lovely photos. Just imagine in the old days - taking 300 photos would have cost you an arm and a leg for the film.

Yeah that is true it would have done, 8/9 rolls of film, you can't do it, cost too much.

@jaboUK That's what I love about digital. In the old days I carried a camera around with me but rarely used it and when I did I usually only took one or two photos. I never even took 300 photos in a YEAR.

@Gina145 I've never been much of a photographer, and the cost was a definite deterrent. Paying money to get a smudged out of focus picture? Not me. But now I have a point and shoot and it's great for what I want.

Even though you had no one to go with you, I am sure it was a relaxing time for you. And taking those pictures. Sometimes it is better to be alone in a setting like that. The pictures are real nice.

These are excellent pictures. It is good to go to the beach in the evening when there aren't any tourists cluttering it up. I see a trip to North Devon on the horizon.

Your photos are beautiful Kevin. I don't think that the hills got in the way. They actually add to the beauty of the scene.

@kevin1877uk I know I'm right. I wish I'd taken those photos. I live really far from the sea and rarely get opportunities to take interesting sunset shots. I'm also jealous that it gets dark so late there. Especially right now, because it's dark by 6:00 pm at this time of year

Those pictures are so beautiful. The beach is one place I don't mind going to alone-in the evening to take pictures. It is so peaceful and amazing. =)

Don't you, we still have 3 weeks to go before it's the longest day, so maybe another 20 minutes later before it get dark here, it starts getting light here are 4-4:30am.

@JudyEv That it true it was the same in California, the night was night quickly, yesterday I could have stayed maybe another 20 minutes on the beach because it was still light in the distance.

@kevin1877uk Our nights close in much quicker. I loved the long twilights but here, once it starts to get dark, it keeps getting darker till it's night.

@kevin1877uk No beaches in my area. There's a downtown river and a water fountain, 20 minutes away. *sigh*

That's a lot of photos. Great pictures! I love walking the beach. Problem is there's no beach here to walk.
