My Pet Dogs Are Military Tactical Experts

On two occasions I have become the victim of a German "blitzkrieg" attact by my dogs, Castle and Beckett (Named after characters in the TV series "Castle"). I have this bad habit of eating while I am on my laptop. Whether it is watching a streaming movie or interacting in myLot. They would surreptitiously circle around my seat, one flanking the left and the other on the right side. Castle would then innocently put both paws on my lap with practically half his body on it. This would cause me to move my hand with the food away to the opposite side while petting him with my free hand. SNAPPED! I would find the sandwich in Beckett's jaws. They seem to have perfected this ruse, even taking turns on who gets the food. Any suggestion for a counter measure to their tactic? Photo Image: Pixabay

@Lucky15 _ I think they watch too many TV crime movies and have become criminally-minded.

@sol_cee _ No, the computer desk. Yes they're adorable dogs but I would prefer it if they make their own sandwich.

@MGjhaud _That would seem the logical solution. Problem is they would quickly gulp down their share then turn their attention on how to get hold of my sandwich.

Team work pays. Now you have to show them that humans are more advanced and figure out to foil their efforts. Good luck.

@josie_ Out numbered? We are humans. We are capable of greater evil than any of God's other creations. Never bet against us.

Oh, how funny is that @josie_ ; those are a couple of very smart dogs. Feed them just before you feed yourself.

@josie_ It's like they have a bottomless pit. I had 3 dogs up until a year ago. 1 was an Akita who weighed 150 pounds; a Pit Bull that was 75 and a German Shepherd at 70. Oh my, the foot bill.

@ridingbet _ Good thing I know someone who works in Mang Inasal chicken house. Their table scraps supply my dog food at a very minimal cost.

@josie_ Oh cats can be just as devilish lol. My cat is 13 or 14 so she is old and lazy and does nothing but sleep most all of the day. I see her awake to eat that's about it. All the kittens I had were trouble makers. It takes them age to grow out of it.

Do not waste your time trying to come up with a tactical ploy to divert the attack. It will be useless as obviously your dogs are hounds of Napoleon reincarnate!

I don't eat near my dogs. I went out with my coffee this morning and visit the pups and the brown one just won't leave my cup alone. Im glad she wasn't tall enough to reach, probably when she gets older. but i was done eating besides my laptop.

Smart dogs, prepare a hot pepper sandwich (very hot) and let them use their tactic, they will lose the habit.

@jaboUK _ They're spoiled brats and have free rein of the house. Reminds me of the Seinfeld quote,"Dogs are the leaders of the planet. If you see two life forms, one of them's making a poop, the other one's carrying it for him, who would you assume is in charge.”

Don't eat with your laptop on your lap. Start eating at the table, that way, you can ignore them and actually eat your sandwich instead of them going military on you. You need to change tactics. It will take them by surprise.

Maybe make them their own sandwich before you sit down to eat? Ooh, or better yet, make yourself a sandwich but put something nasty in it that they wouldn't like. Pretend to eat it and then let them make their move. They'll take a chomp and then leave it be. They'll associate your food with something gross and not bug you anymore. Problem solved! Now what could you find that a dog would find gross....?

@Genipher _What if because my attention is so focus on my viewing I absentmindedly took a bite of that "nasty" sandwich? YUK! I think I'll go for the first suggestion. Safer.

My dog once knocked my box of tea over while I was making a tuna sandwich. When I busy cleaning up her mess, she snatched my sandwich. Sneaky critters. Love the names of your dogs. (And Sweetie is spoiled too).
