A Stormy Day

We woke up to sunshine this morning but by noon a storm was brewing. I haven't seen such high winds in a long time. It poured down rain with lots of thunder and lightening. We drove out later and trees were down.
In our apartment complex two trees had blown down right on top of several cars. I know there was bad damage to these cars. As we drove on out the street we saw several other trees down, and at one house a vehicle from Geico was already there.
We drove on to California Pizza to have a late afternoon lunch. We ordered veggie pizza. My better half had a bowl of potato soup and I'm not sure what soup I had. It was the one without potatoes or tomatoes and it was good.
Coming out the door we saw a woman snapping pictures of the sky, looking up there were strange looking clouds we had never seen before, I got my camera out and snapped a few pictures too.
I don't know how to describe the clouds. They looked sort of like round, puffy balls. Maybe we will hear about them on the news.

Love thunderstorms. I especially like them at night. When we have a good thunderboomer I sleep well.

@ElusiveButterfly The wind seems to do more damage than anything else.

Our day yesterday was grey and rainy, but it warmed up a bit when I had to go out in it for my eye exam. Today it is probably in the 70's. A perfect day really. Next week will be in the triple digits. Ugh!

@celticeagle Two of my grandsons live in Arizona, and it's terribly hot there. I don't know how you guys live in desert country. I would go crazy if I couldn't see trees. I've never lived away from wooded hills and mountains.

Sounds like a very strange weather day, to be sure. I can't remember the last thunder storm we had around here. They've been predicting them for months, but we never actually have one. Lunch sure sounded good! I'm going to be making a pizza tomorrow, probably late morning so I won't have the oven going when temps are at their highest.

@RubyHawk I did, thanks! Waited for the apartment to cool down and then made the pizza! The oven/stove cools down very quickly once I shut if off, thankfully, so once the pizza was out and cooling, the apartment cooled right down and it's gorgeous here now. I'm enjoying some iced tea and going to dive into a book in a few minutes.

@CRK109 Our apartment cooIs quickly after I turn off the oven but the heat detector is near our kitchen so it has gone off a few times when I have the oven on too long. So, I use the oven very little in the summer. Enjoy your tea and your book.

I wish there was a storm every day here in the summer time because it is just too hot!
