Ontario, Canada is in the Red!

Well we probably are in the Red in other ways but right now it's smack in the middle of Strawberry Season! This is when you can get luscious strawberries for you shortcake, tarts, and on top of ice cream and they are at their natural sweetest. I love strawberries and this is the best time to buy them because they are picked naturally and not forced or imported. The in Season ones are often smaller but also more delicious! Sweet, firm, and only slightly tart is how they taste! If I eat too many I can even get a canker in my mouth from the natural acidic element of the strawberry. It truly is a gift to enjoy them at this time. The US also has this time as strawberry Season- just in time for Independence Day goodies. Do you love strawberries? To me they are the tastiest fruit, followed only by the wild blueberry. Enjoy if you can!

I am glad that you wrote this discussion, because last night we had the full moon and it's called "strawberry moon", from the Native Americans, to indicate that this is strawberry season. I wrote a post and several US users jumped to comment that the strawberry season is long gone in the US... which part of the US? I am sure that in some parts it's still strawberry season, as it is in your country and mine.

I too am surprised- but it could be in the very warm deep south- Geogia, Louisiana, Alabama and maybe also the South of California! Because they are so south, the weather can almost be tropical most of the time and maybe their Strawberry season is earlier in the Spring? Maybe someone will verify this. For us in Canada- it is strawberry season till the end of July!

@MarymargII For us is strawberry season now, but I know that in Spain strawberry season is in April-May, I suppose that in the south of the United States it's the same.

It's strawberry season here as well, as far as I know. We recently got a small batch of strawberries. And they're almost gone. My husband just loves strawberries.

It's so nice that you grow lots of strawberries there . Here , we also have them but they are in Baguio because it's in the mountain where it is cold . So , they are a bit expensive when brought to other places here . I love strawberries . For milk , i want it strawberry flavored or i won't drink milk . For ice-cream i like it that flavored too .

@MarymargII Yes, that's why it's not indigenous here because we are a tropical country , except for that mountainous place here that grows that .

Personally, I enjoy blueberries more than strawberries and I think that's mostly because they don't need to be trimmed first. Even though this month seems to be when more strawberries are available especially as desserts in restaurants like Big boy's strawberry pie, I don't know if the crops from strawberries are ripe enough for sale in our stores yet or not. I think we still get a large portion from another warmer climate although I could be mistaken on that one. Enjoy your red, I'm sure that's the only type of red you or anyone else will really enjoy. ,

I do love my red- I love raspberries too but I seem to enjoy them if more if they're made into a sauce.I love blueberries too- But strawberries are special and make great desserts! I know when you make strawberry pie for some reason, you need another fruit in there.

Wow, you're so fortunate to be able to enjoy fresh, succulent and delicious strawberries. I live in a tropical country and the strawberries we get are all imported and hence not as fresh. They are also expensive. I too love strawberries and my favorite way of eating them is with cream. Yummy, yummy, yummy!

That is one thing I miss from growing up in the Niagara Falls area. As a teen I used to make money picking them in the fields.

Some of our strawberries seem to be huge but they don't have the lovely flavour of the smaller ones.
