When you go to the mall shopping do you ever want to get close so you don't have to walk so far? Do you pull into a Disabled Persons Parking Space? I have noticed a lot of people who don't seem to be disabled with no tags or disabled license park parking there. I have been tempted to call and turn them in as it is a hardship on those who have medical problems if they can't park close to the place they want to go. Some of these places have security and I don't know why they don't ticket these people if they have no disabled license plate or a tag on their car.

Believe it or not my gym has had to issue warnings to a number of non-disabled members for parking in the disabled spaces. It's a gym! If you're not disabled is it really going to kill you to walk an extra few yards before exercising?? People!!!!

@WorDazza People going to a gym for exercise can't even walk a little ways further that does not make any sense. People is right hard to figure some of them out.

On the flip side, if a disabled person is going to the gym, wouldn't you assume they could manage a few extra steps to get inside the building? What are they going to be doing inside? Spectating?

Usually the parking for disabled in our area are used by those who have tags or license plates for disabilities. It's rare to see someone park in one of those spots if they aren't disabled. I"m sure tickets would be given if someone who wasn't qualified parked there

@solitary Isn't it just wrong of people to do that, they are the kind that think I can do anything I want to.

@Marcyaz I did see that too.

I think parking in a disabled parking space when you're not disabled is low! Ticket or no ticket, the person should be guided by their own conscience. Surely they know that's wrong!

@Marcyaz - That's what my bothers me. That they don't care. How did their heart get to be hard like that?

The fine here is $300. If ticketed and I see them checking often. If the fine was that big, it does make people think before parking.

I've been disabled for a few years now and when I had a car, I did have a handicapped placard on my car. I got screamed at by many people who didn't think I was handicapped enough to park when I did. I finally went to a police officer who was in the area and asked him about the situation. He said that as long as I had my placard on the car, no one could anything to me. That said, those without placards need to be fined for parking where handicapped people NEED to park. So don't feel bad if you decide to report someone. You're doing something for people in need.

Not everyone who is disabled looks that way someone could have a heart condition and they wouldn't look any different. We can't tell but if they have a placard then no one shoud question them.

Nope we actually park farther away, unless it is raining. We like to get the exercise. I wouldn't dare take a place that is meant for someone dealing with health issues. I've been with loved ones who have the tags and can't find a spot. It truly makes it hard on them. Have a blessed day

I never park in a disabled parking space, but some people without disabilities park in those parking spaces. You get a parking ticket if you are caught. The ordinary parking fines are about $100, but if you park in a disabled parking space without a tag the fine is $200.

It is disappointing to see people park in disabled parking spots without the tag or license plate. I usually find whatever parking I could but I'd prefer the closer ones but I won't circle around to find a close one. If I pull up the close one isn't available, the next one even if its far will be my choice.

@Marcyaz - We are not supposed to have our disabled-parking permit tag hanging from the car's rear view mirror bracket as we drive the automobile. So, one day I was pulling into a parking spot designated for the disabled when the driver behind me started blasting on their car horn and waving their arms at me. I thought that they were crazy or something. I parked in the slot and then hung up my permit tag on the mirror bracket. The noisy driver quit blasting her car horn, stopped waving her arms, gave an "OK-I'm a real fool" look and drove off to somewhere else on the parking lot. She was obviously disabled. There was something wrong with her brain I suppose.

@Ceerios The tag should be hanging from the mirror bracket and no where else. How strang that is with the lady.

@Marcyaz - It is a violation of the driving laws to have the tag hanging from the mirror bracket when the car is on the highway and in motion.

@chrisandmark I don't blame you for being mad about this it is not right that a person who is disabled can't park close and can't even shop where she wants to. It makes me mad also.

Weellll, I have idled in a handicapped spot at the library, while my daughter was returning our books. There isn't a good spot up close to the doors to park and wait for her. I vigilantly keep an eye out for other cars that might happen to need the spot. So technically, no. I don't park in handicap spots. I temporarily idle there. I guess you could call it a long pause.

@Marcyaz Yup, that's why I keep a "vigilant eye". So I can move ASAP if someone should need the spot. But we generally don't take more than 2 minutes to return books, so it's never been an issue.

They should get a fine if they don't have the tag. I park far from the door to get a bit of a walk. I need it and so do most of us. Plus it's less likely to get dings on my car if I park away from every one.
