I opened all my piggy banks today. I placed in plastic bags each coin by their denomination and tomorrow I will change them into bills when I go to the Bank to buy some dollars in cash for my trip.
There are several ways of saving for my vacations. One is the dollars I save when I use my credit card. That usually helps with my air fare. In this case I did it through another agengy which was cheaper.
Then there´s the coins I save in my piggy banks (not all of them of course) and finally the online earnings.
All that will not be enough for my trip, but it does help.
I am very curious as to how much I have saved in coins. I will know it tomorrow. I thought I would go there this morning if Leticia showed up, but she had an appointment at the hospital.
She said that tomorrow she´d come. Let us hope.

Fortunatly no. I thought I´d have to, but they told me to bring them in a plastic bag. They throw it into a machine (such as they do at Las Vegas casinos) and they give you the bills.

@marguicha oh how I wish my bank could do that. It's wonderful that they've made it easy for you!

@CRK109 I´m sure there are Banks that do that in the US. The first time I saw one of those machines to count coins was at Las Vegas.

You are very thrifty to do it this way Marguicha.
I have no piggy banks but i miss them for sure.
I remember having one when I was a child.

If you don´t have a piggy bank (and they are very unexpensive) you can use a coffee jar.

@TiarasOceanView I love to go on vacations and for me, they are health. But I have to put some effort if I want to go away. Some years ago, I discovered that I either stopped smoking or I went on holidays. I quit smoking.

I find that these ways resemble games and I like to play. Real money is for groceries and to pay bills. This money is for my luxury.

I will spend all the dollars that I will take in cash pampering my grandkids. For the normal expenses we will share with my daughter.

Happy counting. I got lucky today. Found quite a few coins laying in the parking lot while I was cleaning up.

Good for you. I always bend down for a coin, even now that it hurts some.

@koopharper Don´t tell me that! Today, when Leticia bent to pick something that was on the floor, I applauded.

@marguicha I won't leave money laying on the ground. It is getting harder to bend and pick it up though.

Those are cute piggy banks and they are blue - my favorite color.

It feels very satisfying to have a goal and reach it by saving and earning in extra ways.

I can live fairly well, with a little bit of budgeting, with my pension and some money my husband left me. But I pay for my one luxury (vacations) with these things.

I always like to save all my spare change and dump it into bottles. Over time you can accumulate a lot! But then I am always reluctant to cash it in because I then start back off at ZERO! LOL. The whole point of saving it up is to eventually convert it to cash...
