How Many Hours Of Sleep Do You Need?

It seems no matter how long i sleep, l still wake up groggy and tired.I try to go to bed at midnight every night and l do sleep through the night, come 7.15 am, l struggle to get up, l need 5 alarms to get me up. After work, l still go for my *naps* that last 2-3 hours every afternoon I live for weekends when l can sleep till 11am. How many hours sleep do you need to wake up fresh? seems l can never get enough sleep.

I usually go to bed around 9 and wake up for 5-6, and I'm usually alright with it. If I don't get enough sleep, or sleep a little too much, it might make a little grumpy, or groggy or something. But for the most part I try to stick to my schedule.

@miniam the sun is pretty much down here by 9. With 3 kids I can't afford to go to bed much later than that.

I get 7 to 8 hours a night. They say more than 8 is not healthy.

@miniam Perhaps you need more vitamin B in your diet. With all that sleep and still feeling groggy, I'd mention it to my doctor.

I never seem to wake up refreshed. I'm a working mom lol. I try to get at least 6-7 hours of sleep and go to bed at a decent hour for the most part. I still hate getting up at 6:00 a.m for work every morning. It's brutal.

I just never seem to feel refreshed unless I get about 11 or 12 hours. I did not sleep well at all last night so tonight I should sleep better.

@miniam I never get this much sleep. Since school has been out I have been letting my kids stay up until I go to bed. Then they sleep about 11 or 12 hrs so I sleep until they wake up. I am so tired from not sleeping last night I'm having a mug of warm mill and Tazi tea concentrate to perk me up since I already had my coffee.

I get anywhere from 5-8 hours of sleep, more often on the lower end, though I did get 8 hours today, so that's good.

I need about 7 hours of sleep. I have a very hard time sleeping though and often wake up at 3 or 4 in the morning and can't sleep any more. I have to stay awake all day though; if I have a nap I will not be able to sleep at all the next night.

I think its about quality more than quantity. For me about 6hrs. Sometimes less. I feel more fresh when i exercise regularly. So i think its not only about sleeping longer hours to feel fresh.

That's not good to wake up groggy after 7 hours or so of sleep. That should be enough, even without the afternoon naps. I usually get about 7 hours myself, and that's plenty for me.
