Off Soon to see the Wildflowers

We went to a 'meeting' this morning – six of us, three couples – who, in about ten days time are heading north to hopefully warmer weather and acres of wildflowers. We will take our bus/motor-home while the others have more conventional motor-homes. We decided on a date and time to leave and where we'll stay the first night. We will travel about 500 kilometres the first day. We'd like to get a fair way north quite quickly then take our time heading home again taking in the various displays of wildflowers as we go.
What is interesting is the different way in which we're preparing for the trip. One friend is super-organised and has her and her husband's meals all planned and much of it frozen and ready to be packed. She has books on wildflowers, reptiles, mammals, native trees and anything else you can imagine. We met at this friend's house and had hot scones, chocolate slice and iced cake for morning tea. We think we might need another meeting if such a spread is going to be part of it!
The other wife is more concerned with getting her roses pruned and her fruit trees sprayed before it is time to leave. And she needs to catch up with her grand-children before she goes. And as for us – we'll have meat, vegies and staples on board and a few tins in case we need them. But we haven't really planned what we'll take to the nth degree. We'll be going through plenty of small towns too if we run out of food. It promises to be an interesting trip.
The photo is one of the many banksias that Western Australia is known for.

It seems so strange to me that you head north to get to warmer weather but I guess that is what the southern hemisphere is all about!! Rather hard for us northern hemi folks to fathom. I hope you have a wonderful time. We are off north tomorrow as well to Quebec.

Very nice. I'm sure you'll have a great time. I like to plan but not to that level.

@JudyEv Agreed. Rigid plans would cause me no end of stress when things went a little off the rails.

@koopharper That's the thing isn't it? It's much easier I think if you're not too structured and can be flexible.

Hi Judy. It is well planned and I hope that you will enjoy your coming trip. It sounds interesting to me. Traveling all the way north in Australia, I am sure that you will have warmer weather as you are in the southern hemisphere, just opposite to that of our in the northern hemisphere. While traveling, you will have so much to see and share with us friends here. Have a good day.

Thanks for the good wishes. Western Australia is such a big state we'll only be a little way north but it will be far enough to have some sunshine and warmth hopefully - and lots of wildflowers. I'll look forward to sharing photos when I get back. It is another week before we leave.

It sounds fun. As for me, now that I´m back to the winter, I only want spring to come again.

We can spend our lives waiting for this season or that season can't we? Difficult not to wish for spring I'd say.

We plan a little bit. The bus will be checked carefully but foodwise we'll take some of this and that. We won't be planning out every meal that's for sure.

Heh. I'm heading to NY this afternoon. I'll over-water my plants and bring a mandolin and a day pack with shorts, swimming trunks, and a couple of extra pairs of socks, etc. For some of my friends, they'd have to bring two bags for four days.

That's the beauty of the bus. It is so big we can just keep chucking stuff in - just in case. There is a lot of 'just in cases' that we think we have covered!

Nice photo. Australia has so much to offer in exotic (to me anyway) animal and plant life.

I guess every country has its unusual stuff. I thought I'd seen photos at least of many exotic animals then I discovered the South American ones that I'd never even heard of let alone seen photos.
