A postcard from South Africa

I have received a lovely postcard from @Inlemay of Table Mountain. It looks like it is on fire with a snowy white cloud along the top of the mountain. Apparently the mountain only looks flat from from one side. The plateau is 3 kms from side to side and is a dramatic backdrop to Cape Town.
At its highest point, towards the eastern end, it is 1,086 metres (3,563 ft) above sea level. A cable car takes visitors to within 19 metres of the summit at the western end.
The stamps on the postcard are also very attractive with one being an impressive head of a lion. Thanks Lany for the lovely surprise in my letter-box.

@hereandthere Two very long weeks on an overcrowded italian immigrant boat where no-one spoke English and everything was broken and there was nothing to do. I loved it.

@JudyEv The Smoky Mountains appear to be 'smoking' many mornings. I've heard that tourists ask when they turn the smoke machines on .... people are strange LOL

This was very nice of her. I lived in Cape Town for two years. I loved every moment of it. Such a gorgeous location with fabulous, sweet people.

@JudyEv My "happy place" where I go while in the dentist chair as she does something unpleasant is Camps Bay beach.

@JudyEv lol, yes ma'am, i truly do. i 'twas reluctant myself, jest coz the hands don't always pen where's folks can read 't, so's i'm 't times slow gettin' 'em out. 'tis been a wonderful adventure though 'n whilst i adore the cards from all o'er, 'tis those handwritten words from those who send 'em that truly touch my heart. if'n ya need some more sent'cher way, jest holler :D

That's still true but at the beginning I didn't think there would be many joining in and I didn't want to give offence. When people are so enthusiastic I don't like bursting their bubble by being reluctant to join in. I know you understand because you put a :) at the end.

My best friend and his partner are there at the moment. They have also taken his brother and family along as they have never had a holiday outside of the UK. Its a special time. I have never been to SA but one of these days I hope to be able to visit Cape Town.
