Kalimera, Kalimera and Thank Goodness its Friday as the saying goes! Happy Greek Friday from me and in so celebrating I thought I would share Greece's first Olympic Gold medalist as well. Congratulations to the lovely young Anna Korakaki who won "Greece's first gold medal of the Rio Olympics on Tuesday, beating her German opponent Monika Karsch by 8 points to six in the women's 25 meter pistol final. Korakaki who is only 19 years of age, won the bronze medal in the women’s 10 meter air pistol event at the Games on Sunday. It was Greece's first medal of these Olympics." Brávo - which is Well done in Greek! Kalimera to Katerina who might also be celebrating something wonderful along the waterfront with a friend - sipping on some fabulous Greek coffee. Happy Friday everyone - Keep it real! Photo - of course is from my album of Greece, Man's best friend and since all myLot friends are very far away i thought I would end off with this quote: “Every once in a while, people need to be in the presence of things that are really far away.” ~ Ian Frazier

As a matter of fact bravo is an Italian word and it is only masculine, for feminine brava should be used. I have noticed that also French use this Italian word and always only the masculine term for both sexes.

@Inlemay Greece for Italians is feminine genre, as it is Italy, France and Germany. South Africa, United States, Belgium are masculine. Kanei Kala in facts means "well done".

the Greek dictionary states that kalá kánei is specifically for woman - but I was saying Bravo to Greece as a country not just a person

@inlemay maybe we should all meet up on the waterfront with Katerina, just along from the harbour and watch the little boats bobbing about on the gentle swell. It'll be warm but with a fresh ocean breeze coming off the water. In the evening we can walk along the harbour and sit outside a cafe and eat fresh squid and octopus.

@Inlemay We'd better check with Katerina first to see when she's free.

I'm getting quite caught up in the Olympics this year, although usually I'm the least sporty person around! It sounds unpatriotic, but I really enjoyed watching Fiji get their first Olympic medal ever by completely annihilating the UK team at seven-a-side rugby last night!
