I have heard from many people that cold water can cause you gain of weight. I am still not sure about it. And also I have heard that if someone want to lose weight then they can go for warm water after having meal or other time of the day. Now what is the reason behind this? I mean there is same water, but after making it warm it can help you to lose weight, and by making it cold it can gain your weight. Well, I drink lots of cold water, may be that's why I am not losing weight?! Whatever the reason, but it is too hard to drink warm water in such hot weather. Image from pixabay

That's sounds logical. And yes by that way it can help digestion better and fast. But why reverse thing for cold water!?

@akp100 I will answer your question. The meal that we have everyday will have some fat content, right? Now if we have cold water, it makes the liquid state of the fat to a semi-solid form (Just like how a liquid ghee solidifies when kept in freezer). Now if you have warm water after meals then it helps in churning the food better and also does not allow any fat content get clog into the tubes. Hope this helps

Yes.. I don't know why, but I have found many people suggesting me to stop drinking cold water. Well, I can drink normal water, but warm water for now is bit difficult.

Trying is believing Rina...now that I know...I will try and since I am fat, may be I can authenticate this theory.

Temperature of the water does not matter. Water comes in at 8 pounds a gallon. If one drinks lots of water, naturally they will weigh more. Trivia: What burns the most calories in a human body???? Answer: Maintaining body temperature. One can loose lots of weight working out in the cold. Nothing burns calories like a good shiver, however one must be careful not to get hypothermia.

That's exactly what I mean. But different people have different things to say. so it makes it more confusing stuff. But thanks for sharing good info.

I am inclined to believe that this belief stems from the principle of steam engines. So the warm water can easily boil because of our body temperature adding to it, and so steam is generated and that pushes the junk out of the system. Tell me I am wrong, and I will disbelieve you.

No way to tell you wrong as even I don't know anything related to this. I just know that I want to lose my weight by few kg. So trying different things. I wonder if it can work. But yes I will try. And whatever you talk about steam engines, yes may be our body is one of them.

Actually, drinking hot water in hot weather makes sense. This is why drink loads of tea in India when it is hot; it will keep you cool. Reducing your body temperature with cold water isn't good for you. Im not sure about losing weight though, I think whoever told you will not lose weight drinking cold water is a perhaps an old wives tale.

@crystalvisions Actually it was about losing weight when we have hot water and gain weight when we drink cold water regularly. It is nothing about weather. And as you told about noticing other people, different people have different body structure. Here I know people whose body never gain weight even after having too much cold drink. So it is funny.

@akp100 Instead of reading articles, look around you. Ask people what they drink when it is so hot. I did and it was usually hot tea!
