Undivided Attention

Its been a while since I have been able to give anyone undivided attention because as I age, its seems more of me wants to go in different directions and nothing as a whole in any one place. I don't expect anyone to really understand, but if you do, then I believe you know my crisis. Good morning on this pleasant winter Monday morning. It promises to be a high of 16*C which is a serious drop from the week-ends 27*C but then we are in the aftermath of some turbulent winter wind coming up from the snow strewn mountain regions. Sadly there are no Olympic Games to watch in the middle of the night, so as of today my family might be getting some decent rest and resume our normal sleep patterns almost like getting babies back into a routine. The events at the Olympic games were absolutely enthralling and I loved every minute of them, some we lost and some we won by C'est la vie! Congratulations to the United States for their first positions with 46 gold/ 37 silver and 38 Bronze = 121medals. And just a nose length ahead in second place Great Britain with 27 Gold/ 23 Silver and 17 Bronze = 67 in total which is almost half of what USA got. To the China Olympians - well done too if the placings rested on the total medals then you would have been second, but they go on the Gold medal rankings. Fourth was Russia and Fifth was Germany leaving RSA in the 30th postition with a total of 10 medals. Only 78 Countries of the 206 that participated received any medals. I wonder how the criteria for participation was set for the Modern Olympic games in 1894? Did you know: "Although the ancient Games were staged in Olympia, Greece, from 776 BC through 393 AD, it took 1503 years for the Olympics to return. The first modern Olympics were held in Athens, Greece, in 1896. The man responsible for its rebirth was a Frenchman named Baron Pierre de Coubertin, who presented the idea in 1894." Its my grandsons birthday today - so in celebrating, I am baking cookies while giving you my undivided attention! photo is of Athens and the Old Olympic Arena with a true champion - my hubby!

@LadyDuck Oh dear, that is no good for the poor snakes because they prefer the warmer temperatures.

good morning Lany :) No Olympics! I don't know what I'm going to do!!! The Olympics was amazing and GB have done ridiculously well, so many great moments. But for me Wayde Van Niekerk was the moment of the games.

If the countries of the so called United Europe would have participated together, they would have gained more medals than the United States, but they are united, we are not.

I saw statistics somewhere of how many medals per capita for different countries. This gives another slant on how successful countries are.

If its per capita - then less populated countries like NZ and Australia and others feature well

The UK haven't done badly either. I have only watched a few games in between working and I have enjoyed it.
