Marijuana and Pharmacies

I just read an article James Higgins wrote about legalizing marijuana and I would like to add that I think marijuana should be available to all pharmacies for patients who are prescribed marijuana by their doctors. Marijuana is helpful for people who have seizures, for cancer patients and so many other illnesses. Many people who need it move to other states where it's legal. Anyone can buy tobacco and yet we know cigarettes kill people. Alcohol is available to everyone and it kills, also. So why is marijuana illegal when it helps people with certain illnesses? And research says it has no harmful effects. What is your opinion?

@AmbiePam You are so right, pharmaceutical companies want to protect their interests, to heck with the people.

@Hatley I see Anbie Pam answered your question. She's correct.

I'm not sure about the no harmful effects - especially after long-term use but I agree it should be legally available if it is prescribed. It wouldn't even be prescribed here as it is illegal in all forms.

it's illegal in Georgia, although not in all the states.

I also think that it should be legalized.

There are many sick people it would help.

I don't think so. Pharmacists wouldn't know how much to give to the person.

I believe they would have a very good idea, if not courses should be available to them.

The federal courts recently refused to alter it's status as being illegal for any purpose in all 50 states. Until that changes, I doubt it will be available at the local Walgreens.

I just had this discussion with my 13 year old. I still don't want to see it too readily available as it does have some major side effects for some people. Particularly the young teens and their developing brains - it has been linked with depression and psychosis.

I wouldn't want any harm to come to anyone. Children should not use it unless prescribed by a doctor.

I agree. It should be subscribed to those who need it and they should be able to get it at the pharmacy!
