Sitting by the window, listening to the world go by

It's lovely and cool this morning, so there is a nice breeze that occasionally pushes aside the curtains and feathers across my cheek. My right cheek. The one on my face. Not only does the cooler weather allow me to enjoy this oxygenated flutter of air, but it also lets me hear snippets of conversation from the people passing by my house while they walk, jog, or cycle on the pedestrian trail below. Just now, someone was jogging by, laughing heartily at something I was not privy to. I think she was on her phone. Perhaps she was with a companion who wasn't getting too many words into the conversation. It did sound like she had a lot of feet for one person, judging by the footfalls. Anyway, I just felt like joining her. So, I began laughing. I tried to laugh in the same manner she was laughing - a little lower in timbre and tone than her conversational voice. The result was wonderful. Such a chorus of laughter. Of course, if I sit by my window and laugh with those who laugh as they pass by, or answer questions they ask their companions or people on their cell communicators, it could cause them to be startled by this voice coming out of the sky. Maybe I should throw in a few admonitions or demands for a shrubbery. I may sit here for a while, interacting with the world without actually being part of it, seeing how many innocent passersby I can freak out.

Laughter can be so contagious. Freaking out passersby. That's an interesting past time.

I do have other hobbies, but everyone needs to branch out now and then into something anti-social.

You made me laugh explaining that you were talking about "the cheek of your face". It's funny to observe people and to surprise them.

I didn't want people to imagine that I wasn't dressed properly. It's one thing to talk to people from behind a curtain, but I am not a flasher.

This happens where I live too. I guess people don't care if we hear their conversations.

Hearing just the one side of a conversation can lead to interesting speculations.

@Rollo1 Right, but it can be annoying being interrupted while doing something quiet inside our homes.

There haven't been too many vocal pedestrians. The bicycles go by too fast. Perhaps because it is a weekday. I may get up earlier tomorrow to catch some early runners.

I love that you explained that you were talking about the cheek on your face rather than any other one! I'm laughing out loud.

Oh my, that would be alarming, until they came to know that you are there from time to time.

We can only observe the occasional deer, squirrels and birds from our windows. I am a people watcher and would enjoy being in a more populated area.
