Saturday was such a great day!

We somehow slept an hour later than usual, then went to the Farmers' Market in the downtown park blocks, where we bought fresh ling cod for dinner along with a lot of very fresh vegetables. Then it was almost lunch time so we crossed the street to the crowded outdoor Saturday Market, an institution here since 1970, where one can find crafts, herbs, music, food, locally made clothing and much more. We had a great burrito from Ritta's Burritos, a food cart that has been around 40 years. There is entertainment all day long there and a local guy named Rich Glauber was on stage. He is an enthusiastic solo act who brings along a bag full of rhythm instruments. He invites people to join in with one of their choice and the kids present did so with great enthusiasm. I grilled that ling cod and corn on the cob for dinner, Anne cooked fresh green beans and rice. It could not have been a better day if it was my birthday.

Right now, here in Spokane, they have what they call, "Pig Out In The Park," going on. That's where all these restaurants go downtown to Riverfront Park and sell there meals for something like $7. There is live music and no cover cost to get in. It runs through Labor Day.

Kids are great at Farmer's Markets and similar outdoor events. They're the ones who dance the most, and their parents often send them up to the tip jar with a couple of dollars.

glad yuo had a wonderful day at that market. In LA Calilf there is one like that and every time someone mentionedc tose big markets I remember tjhs awful day whjen an old'stubborn man would not stop; driving. He got his accelerator stuck and he was at the big LA outside market. there were huge crowds and the fellow either just willfully plowed into many innocent shoppers, maiming many and killing a few. He either panicked or he had senile dementia as be never stopped or tried to veer away from the crowds but thankfully he ran into the edge of a building and that stopped his car., He was finally charged with unintended manslaughter and put under house arrest so as he was'aged he served his sentence in his own home. Of course he was stopped from;ever driving again.

@JamesHxstatic There's a little play house in a town to the north of us that puts on productions a few times a year. Plays are tons more fun than movies. I'm glad you and your Missus got to go to one.

Yes, that day was great and this one is too. We went to a play this afternoon and Anne is doing a special chicken dinner tonight, a new chicken recipe.

Cod and corn sounds like an interesting combination. I think I have only tried having tuna with sweetcorn.

Ling cod is a special kind of cod, when you can buy the ones that look green they are the best. They turn white when cooked.

I used to know a brilliant guitarist (now deceased) who would let anyone come up and play percussion.

Your day sounds very enjoyable with all the music, food and festivities. We didn't want to fight the traffic so we've had a quiet relaxing day.

I love to wander around markets, full of atmosphere. I was at a food festival last week and there were so many amazing food stalls you just didn't know where to start! Lots of live music too. It was great.
