I had to take the cucumbers down finally.

The cucumbers in our backyard are all but dried up and so are the tomatoes. It took the best part of 30 minutes to remove the bird netting off the vines and pull apart all of the overgrowth. I now am leaving the tomatoes and what's left of the cucumbers in order to let them finish up. If there is anything left it will be a small miracle. Next spring will be better. I will build a better tomato and cucumber garden using wooden arbors and trellises. Here is an article about growing cucumbers in the back yard.

I think they like some shade. Next time I will build an arbor of some type and put a canopy over it like using a sheet of white cotton tied to each end by string above the plants to keep them from having too much intense sunlight. I am still trying to decide how this might actually be done. So did you pick them green? And did they taste good?
