As a child, I always have long hair. Father don't want to cut my hair because as a girl, it is not good to look if you have short hair. When mother labored and stayed in the hospital for a week. I was in the care of my Grandmother, my father's aunt. My Grandmother was the opposite of my father. She don't like me to have a long hair. So what she did, she cut it very short without asking my father. When mother got out of the hospital. Father took me to my grandmother and when he saw me. He was in raging mad. He was very mad and told my grandmother not to touch me anymore. Since then, father wont let me go to my grandmother's house and he never talk to her every again. Got any story about your hair when you are a child?

When I was about between four and five years old my father did cut my hair short. In this case from what I remember my grandmother not liking the fact my father cut my hair because of the summer heat. I was glad he did make my hair shorter at that time. I could sleep better at night since I was not sweating underneath my hair so much. Later my hair grew long again. I did not get it cut until my first child was born in 1974.

@JustBhem I use to have long hair for a lot of years. I am letting my hair grow long again until my next birthday of 2017. I can wear it in different styles.

Not about my hair, but your story reminded me of another story when I was a child... I remember my dad got very angry with his cousin because she took me and my sister for a walk to a store without telling either of our parents first. Not only that she just took off with us without their permission, but once they found out where she took us, they got so angry because the walk involved crossing very busy streets...

Parents wants us to be safe that is why. And that is what we are doing to our children today. We want them to be safe and sound. Right?

When I was five years old, out of curiosity, I trimmed my own hair. In few minutes, I had a bangs similar to that of Dora the Explorer.

lol...yes...once when i was younger, my mom sent me to a regular barber with my brother...i was just suppose to get a trim....but the barber cut my hair in such a way that there were so many step cuts, Step cuts were not allowed in my school, my mom hated the way he cut it...i remember liking it... But after that she cut my hair herself...and i never had to visit a parlor again. Now I can do it myself.

I don't blame your father for being cross - your grandmother had no right to cut your hair. However I think he over-reacted by never talking to her again - after all, hair does grow again.

@JustBhem How sad for that to happen. I'm sorry it became that dramatic over hair. I cut my hair when I was little lol I got into trouble for it and had to go to the hair dressers to get it cut properly but it was actually cut way too short that I got bullied in school for it.
