Poor Kitty

My neighbor's cat has been lying in my yard all day. My other neighbor told me this cat is 18 years old and has had some seizures. She does look old and sick. She is a white cat but her coat is all matted and brown.I haven't been feeding her, but today I put a handful of cat food by her and she jumped up and devoured it, so I gave her a little more and some water and she ate a little more. Usually she just lays there and sleeps or looks around. I don't know if she is staying in my yard because she sees my other cats over here or if it is because her owners are not home enough to care for her. They have some big dogs over there too, so she probably is just too old to be by herself over there or around those dogs. She has been staying on that same spot in my yard for several days. What would you do?

this saddens my heart to read the owners 'pparently care lil 'bout the state 'f their own cat. i'm glad that'cha started givin' the poor dear some food 'n water. i imagine those pups aint too friendly with her either :( i'd continue to care fer her, e'en get the brush/'r scissors out to tackle those mats 'n clean her 'p a bit. poor kitty, she sounds like she sure could use some love.

She has taken to sleeping on our front porch on one of the chairs so we are feeding her and she seems to be getting stronger.

That is so sad. You would think they would treat her so much better especially now that she is so old. I just don't understand people. It is heartbreaking, it is a good thing she has you looking out for her. Bless your kind heart.

Yes she should be given comfort and affection instead of neglect.

I know you have a soft and kind heart by giving her sme food and drink. If the situation is like what you're explained that its owner seems to neglect her or she is afraid of the big dogs, i think you can't neglect her. I know that it maybe hard to take her because you already own cat in your house.

She was gone yesterday but this morning she is back and so ravenous for food and thirsty. When I went out she started after me and meowing loudly so I guess I will claim her if the neighbors aren't going to take care of her. I will feed a water her, but she probably needs to go the the vet too and I won't be able to take her.

AWE!!! that is so sad well if it we're even though my husband would yell at me for it I'd sneak and try and take care of the poor thing as much as I could it's a shame they don't take better care of her than that.

Especially since she is so old you'd think they would view her as a member of their family at this point.

We should take responsible for our pets once we deside to keep them. when pets are young, they give us so many joys, when they get old, we should help them to live in comfort during their remaining days.

Yes I agree. The kitty is gone today so I hope her owner took her in the house.

Just feed her if you have spare food. I pity animals like that.
