A Tree was Felled

My day was quiet here without relatives but my former brother in law who is doing some landscaping for me took out a tree today. It was much too quiet in the house, outside the chainsaw was roaring. He removed trees professionally a few years back. The tree was growing into the side of my "new" (one year old) carport so it had to go. I happened to be watching when unfortunately a rope slipped while around a large branch and the branch fell almost through the carport roof. It was dangling over my car. I ran quickly and moved the car out of there and when it was safely out he cut it the branch to fall through. Thud. I called the people out that had built the carport to give me an estimate and it needs two new roof panels. The frame was not damaged at all. One step forward, two steps back. It was a minor accident really and fortunately no one was hurt. The tree had to go as it was next to the main frame piece and would eventually buckle the whole structure but of course that could be some years down the road. You never know though, perhaps if we had left it a weak branch might have fallen on someone and that is why I felt compelled to get this job done now. It hung over the roof and back door of the house and you just never know. Life is always a mystery, isn't it!

It's always better to prevent than to cure. Of course a branch could have hurt someone and then you were held responsible.

Oh yes, it's easier to move on and move past it.

It's fortunate that you just happened to be watching when that occurred. It could have been disastrous for your car.

Does he have insurance to cover the damage he caused? It sounds like the sort of thing that would happen to us lol

Oh life goes on and he has saved me far far more than this little repair.

@Jeanniemaries That is the chance we take when we get a good deal from family, at least it won't be too expensive.

It sounds like an easy fix, and like you said nobody was or will be hurt now that the tree has been removed.

Glad there wasn't more damage or any injury. Once it is out and the roof fixed, the whole problem will be finished with.

Yes, i'll be glad when it's all done. I had to go away in the middle of this on an emergency and now it's time to leave again for the planned Disney trip.
