OK, where are my myLot tech people friends, I need help

The other day when Outlook changed the format for e-mail I thought my computer was messed up so I did a system restore. The only thing that did was to mess up Adobe plugin. Now I can't watch u-tube or play any games. I have downloaded Adobe 4 of 5 times, it says it downloaded, but when I try a game it says 'plug in not able to load'. I have rebooted a few times, done all I can think of..... Help - can someone give me advice, in simple terms, that will allow me to fix this. I am using Win 7 and Google. Thanks. @vandana7 I learned that I am confused and don't understand half of this stuff. When I tried WayBack machine, I got some weird answers and found my real name under my pen name but no articles. I think it is time to turn in for the night.

It would be very difficult to diagnose what the issue is without actually having access to the computer itself. You may have restored the system to prior to a Microsoft component being updated, which could probably be helped by running Windows update. The easiest approach is most likely the one suggested by @hora_fugit which is to undo the restore itself.

I think, but could be mistaken, that she tried to install Adobe Flash on top of an already existing Adobe Flash, so she will need to un-install the Flash player and then install a fresh copy. The only change my pc made was to the MSN Outlook email, so should have no effect on her pc itself. Backing her pc up should leave it as it was already.

If Adobe Flash works with other browsers, you should better reinstall Chrome. There is a way to enable the plugin in Chrome, but it is a bit technical, and a reinstall will do it for you.

I agree--reinstall Chrome and see if that helps

I think that is what she tried, Top. I believe she will need to un-install Adobe Flash Player and then re-install it to fix this problem.

I did a search and gave her a link that should fix her problem. We shall see. Is your phone's email fixed, Alfredo? If not, tell me what it is doing and I will help you. Cell phones are a specialty for me.

I'm giving up trying this on my own, not confident enough to start messing around. I thought it might be an 'easy' fix but it sounds too complicated for me.

It sounds like you could have the same infection on your computer that I have on mine. I can't download or delete anything. And the infection is masked as a normal file so when your computer does a anti-virus scan it doesn't pick it up and get rid of it. The only way to get rid of it is to have a licensed tech do it. Costly so I haven't done it and just try to work around it as best I can. Good luck!

You are not saying if you have a lap top desktop or what but whatever it is follow these destructions. Place windows device on floor like bathroom scales. Stand on top. Jump up and down at least five times screaming stupid machine at the top of your lungs. This won't fix your problem but it will make you feel better. I agree with DE uninstall and reinstall. Or go back to your original restore point if that was not the problem with outlook to begin with.

I think that what @topffer suggests is the easier way around. Re-install the browser and it will reinstall Adobe Flash Player automatically.

Hello there. This sounds familiar. I can't advise how to fix it. What I did was simple. Ditched the computer. Bought this state of the art cell phone and a chromecast. Use the Android phone as the computer. Found I can do anything I could do before and have it in my hand all the time. I would never go back to a laptop or desktop computer now. These wee phones are awesome. Seriously have made my life so much easier. Been using it to post on here since I started. I have an all I can eat data pack. Get 500 minutes for calls and 3000 texts every month for £25. It never crashes. Updates quickly. Easier to understand and operate. Plenty storage. Yay for these cell phones

@AbbyGreenhill My son convinced me this was the way to go. My puter was playing up. Adobe was the issue also. He showed me what his phone could do. I don't think I've looked back since. Haven't even had to ask for his tech help again. I liked my computer too but didn't really ever understand it.

@AbbyGreenhill - Ms Abby - Whenever my working programs holler that "Adobe can't work with this..." it means that I have to open my Internet Browser which for me is "Firefox" and fix its tools app that permits things like Adobe to work. There are probably similar fixes for other browsers. Good luck to you. -Gus-

Well I use Chrome and when it comes to messing with the 'inards' of it i try to leave it alone. right now I can watch video for some reason so I'm not going to worry about the game. There is a computer shop in town and I'll take it there in a few weeks.

@Ceerios The thing is, I had no problems at all until I did a system restore. Everything has worked fine for years.

@AbbyGreenhill - Sounds like things that go on with my computer here. I still use Windows XP on this computer, and it is set up to use the 8-bit file locator and so forth. Today, the operating systems are all shifting to 16-bit formatting and the automatic updates and the like are all set up to use that. Lots of programs cannot work with the 16-bit stuff and when they "update" (actually replace) what you have already, it will not function for you. Perhaps when you restored something like that happened to you. Things like those may be the least of our troubles now that President Obama is giving up lots of Internet control to the United Nations types in but several more days. -Gus-
