FIGHT FAT WITH VIRTUAL REALITY A few years ago, a study found 30% of 14-18 years olds were obes & Diabetic, with rate rising rapidly Reasons were junk food, low exercise Now study says exergames like pokemon Go, Ingress, 7 Minute Superhero workout & zombies, Run !! May help curb non-communicable diseases..... Do you agree that or not ?????

Though the players do not really want to exercise, I have seen many players in the park playing Pokemon Go, at least it's good for them to go outside and walk or run. Anyway, if they are not playing Pokemon Go, they are still playing other games at home, so I think at least Pokemon Go is a good reason to bring them outdoor, to go to the nature, at least for some walking and fresh air.

The likeliness of that is very slim, I don't disagree that it could encourage teens to get out a bit, but curb obes & Diaetes is highly unlikely.

"Researchers" love to come up with weird new theories. It is pitiable that people need Pokemon Go as motivation to just go out and walk. I guess we would eventually come to a stage when we'd have apps to motivate people to go brush their teeth, take a shower, go to work etc

I guess anything to get them up and active, but it's a pity that they can't do it in the real world. I think that would be better for their minds. Edited to explain I didn't mean playthat game in the real world, but to exercise in the real world, as in playing real games. Ball games, maybe?

@likun123 That's exactly the problem. I remember when parents used to send their kids outside to play and if they didn't want to go, they had to anyway. It was good for them; both the discipline and the going outdoors.

@peavey Nowadays I see some parents are more engaged with the mobile devices, but not only the kids. I have seen some parents playing Pokemon Go in the park while the young children are following them behind.
