wonder what hospital food tastes like these days

Sadly I think that's where I will be in a few short hours. The med's haven't worked. Actually I feel worse than I did 24 hours ago. Foot just as swollen and still can't walk. Pain that hurts like hell. And now my foot is turning a funny colour lol but I am not amused. If this is gout its not gout like I gave experienced before that's for sure. Wife had said if she doesn't see an improvement by 9am hospital it is. I tried to walk normally when she was in the kitchen but I fell over and was lucky I landed on the bed. Don't think I can fake being ok this time. Oh yes I have a history of pretending to be fine when I am not. Posting on here has kept me sane through the pain. In hospital it might again. Poetic or what! Serves me right for eating that bloody haggis pie.

Hello again. I know that you are right. Of course I do but its a hassle I could do without right now. But I need to go only I don't want to be kept in as it would be a but difficult for my wife out here in the sticks all alone. She doesn't drive. Not on a bus route. But she says if there is no improvement then go I must.

I hope your foot heals. And I hope your stay at the hospital is as small as it can. Two years ago, I got a virus just after my chemo and ended up at the hospital. After a week there I cried and yelled that cancer hadnĀ“t killed me, but the food at the hospital would. My oncologist came laughing and sent me home.

@saulgoodman It helped though! The doctor laughed but sent me home. You should have seen the wonders Leticia gave me to eat with the same ingredient they used at the hospital!

I gave it a bang on a kick start which sprung back on me on Wednesday. I forgot all about that. My wife says I have broken my big toe which is why its going purple and the gout meds haven't worked. Not s problem then. Should be in an out in an hour and back here for my phone arriving. If its not that........ You would have been funny yelling about the food like that. But you were probably right.

My wife says I might have fractured my foot when a kick start on a bike sprung back on it on Wednesday. I thought nothing of it because its happened before. It did get me on the big toe. That might explain the meds not working And would explain me not being able to walk. And it would explain the sharp stinging pulsing pain A broken tie wouldn't be a reason for them to keep me in. I hope its that then. My wife just smiled when I read your reply out. Thanks Patsie

Hope you don't have to go into hospital. If it's any help, I spent some time in hospital a few years ago and must confess the food wasn't all that great, but I'd hope it might have improved since then. Menus were brought round to us in the ward on a daily basis and we had to choose - it was the same choice from about 10 different things every day - and the hot meals were sent up from somewhere in the bowels of the hospital, deep froze, then thawed and microwaved. I ended up having this macaroni thing every day which was quite nice and bread & butter pudding for afters every day. I couldn't eat the fruit or jelly due to my illness, but the bread & butter pudding, if you like it, was really nice. It's OK to say you're not fine when you're not....I promise lol.

@saulgoodman Glad you didn't get admitted and sometimes the zonk factor of stronger pills can do more good than the frozen/de-frosted roast pork with these things I think were supposed to be runner beans. Mince & tatties would have been nice....don't get them down here though, but Scots food is better than Essex food.

Nah didn't get admitted. Sent home with stronger pills. Your hospital stay sounds exactly like my last one. Mince and tatties were all I risked. Bowels of the hospital right enough

any swelling and changes in color will scare me enough to go straight to the ER. i know they are not good signs and don't want them to get worse. because worse means things can get complicated, inconvenient, uncomfortable and expensive, so i'm better off averting all that.

@hereandthere No. Doctors are not daft. One look at my file told them it would be gout.

The change in colour scared me. Got stronger pills and I can see and feel an improvement already. I am so relieved

Hello I thought that it was a gout flare up. But it might not be that. I had a bang on the foot with a recoil from a motor bike kick start. It was side but I thought nothing about it as its a regular happening. I ate something spicy and put the pain and swelling down to gout. I might have been wrong.

@saulgoodman sounds bad, but I have other solution than go to the hospital. You can use herbal medicine. That's a common medicine in Asia.

I don't understand why you are blaming the "haggis pie"? What's in there that would make your food swell?

Its the only thing I've really eaten in 14 weeks not on my healthy eaten plan. And it was spicy. Got new meds. Stronger anti inflammatory and its working already. Been home for 5 hours. Went back to bed. Woke up. Can wiggle my toes again.

Oh dear, that sounds bad. I hope you don't have to be admitted to hospital but if you are, I hope the food is okay. The only time I was in hospital was when I had my daughters and I remember the food being pretty grim then (though we are talking nearly 20 years ago) and my husband did the classic thing of bringing in Marks & Spencer sandwiches.

Thankfully they didn't keep me. Different pills. Seem to be doing the trick. Should be walking ok again soon. Lesson learned
