Did you know that Hell froze over?

It did, it certainly did. The last time we had a yard sale, a year ago, I swore no more unless hell froze over...it must have finally happened. I just placed and paid for an ad in the local paper for a yard sale Saturday. I have a of of stuff already priced since I thought we would have it in the summer, but it was too darn hot. Now is the perfect time...cooler and no rain, good shopping weather. Just one day from 8:30 to 3....it would be nice to get rid of the old mattress if nothing else. I have a buyer lined up, she can't afford the asking price but if it doesn't sell Saturday I'll sell it to her for what she can afford. Money in hand is better than a wish and a prayer. Wish me luck and I will say it again - this will be the last yard sale I have - unless of course Hell freezes over again. Photo: pixabay.com/en/fire-font-hell-hell-fire-flame-1311163/

Pity that I don't live in your vicinity. I'm a talented sales person and can sell nearly everything.

Well, I am pretty good one myself, we've should thousands of dollars of stuff over the year, including a house that I sold on Yahoo.com years ago. I once sold a rotted out fishing tackle box - it had no bottom. Also a basketball that wound't hold air - they wanted it badly....strange..

Good luck on your sale!! I know the feeling, I've had many including 4 massive ones before our move to Florida 5 years ago. I said never again too. But yes, I knew Hell Froze because it froze in 2004 when my son graduated High School. That child was the bane of my life over his studies. I even carried a sign to his graduation about the current condition of Hell. Fortunately, since he didn't go to college he was successful in the entertainment industry.

@AbbyGreenhill For ten years he was in a successful band and traveled the world. Now he produces commercials for a national music equipment company. His side project is producing and directing a Sci-fi series for You-Tube.

This is just my luck. I was hoping that when I die I would at least be warm.

@AbbyGreenhill I do wish a few things I had kept and not sold, had to replace so much. Still need a scale and some other stuff, but a thing at a time.

Good luck with that...., I'd be a terrible sales person, in a yard sale, i'd be letting most of it go at reduced prices...lol ...I hope the weather stays nice...

Yard sale prices change from area to area her. This is an extremely poor area and people mostly look for cheap clothing (which I don't have) and cheap anything. It's people coming from other area who are willing to spend a little more for better stuff. We don't sell junk or anything broken. Some people pay asking price while others want stuff for ten cents....the closer it gets to the 'end of the day' the more i'm wiling to lower prices.

@AbbyGreenhill yes people are the same here in spain... don't want to spend their money and want to pay practically nothing for items... and are willing to haggle and barter...., whatever condition of the goods...

Sounds good. I haven't been yard saling for years. We used to go every weekend in the spring, summer and fall. Have fun at your Hell Freezes Over Yard Sale.

@celticeagle Some do and some don't. Some people just pay what the price tag says. I don't barter when i shop - but there are few yard sales anymore that attract me. I have enough 'stuff'....to last a lifetime which isn't a long time from now LOL.

@AbbyGreenhill I have never been at a yard sale and this is not something we do here. It's a shame, I have plenty of stuff to sell.

Yard sale stuff sorta sells itself....in many cases people don't ask anything, just pick up what they want pay and leave and never say a word.

We had a community yard sale here about two weeks ago but I never got anything together to sell. I'm always too lazy when it comes to pricing, lugging to the front yard and haggling with people. Hope you have good success with your yard sale and I agree that money in the hand is better than nothing.
