Artists on myLot

Out of curiosity, are there any fellow artists on this site? If you're an artist, how long have you been one? What inspires you? What's your favorite medium? Favorite supplies? Do you prefer traditional or digital? If you're a digital artist, what do you use to draw? --- I'm more of a traditional sketch artist, but I've been trying to use a drawing tablet for the past four years. It...hasn't really been going well. Digital art tends to frustrate me every time I try... I've been drawing for about eight years now, and my favorite mediums are watercolor + pen and ink. I'm super rusty with watercolor, so I'm having to relearn a few things. I'm heavily inspired by music, my favorite manga artists, Japanese street fashion, and Afrocentrism. I prefer traditional since I like to get my hands dirty. I just really like the satisfied feeling I get when I hear my pen lightly scratch the surface of my paper. What about you? :)

Yes i am an artist...i have been one for ...9 years now .I am inspired by images that do not need words to make the message understood. ...i have painted in both acrylics and oil paints ....i have been enjoying oil painting more of late. .. I have learnt the digital art too when i was in college...but i prefer the traditional ways more...the canvas, the paint , the brush..

oil paint is a little harder to control at first...but as you play with it..you will get the hang of it. Oh...and it smells a little weird.

@kuroidreads I love the smell of oil painting. It's the paint thinner you need to watch out for, mostly, so ventilation is good. Other than that... linseed oil smells awesome.

@ms1864 I've been told by a friend that it smell takes some time to get used to, so I'll try to paint in a ventilated area.

I am not an artist but I have a dear friend who is one and she uses artfinder.com so that she could sell her paintings. Maybe it would help you with regards to your works of art.

Artfinder? I'm not sure I've ever heard of the site, but thank you for the suggestion! I'll definitely look into it.

I don't have any artistic bone in me but I'm surrounded by creative people in my family. I can somewhat relate to your post only because I have sons who are taking creative arts and digital designs courses... I know things like Copic drawing pens or Wacom drawing tablets not because I've used them but only because I had to buy them for my sons...

@kuroidreads My son has a small one from when he was in high school... I guess as he continues to college the projects he's doing for his courses require a larger one... But the small one is still pretty much in use for some of his works in his leisure...

Sounds like your sons are a very busy and creative people. Copic and Wacom products can be pretty pricey, but are worth it in the long run. I've been using the same drawing tablet since I graduated high school.

I cannot say that I am an artist, but I like to draw and to paint, the old way, with brushes and colors.

@kuroidreads I like to pain my gardens, some small cafes near the lake, panoramas. I do not like to paint people.

@LadyDuck Those all sound like wonderful things to paint. Especially gardens! I've only ever painted one self-portrait and it was really difficult...

That makes you an artist in my opinion. :) What kinds of things do you like to paint, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm an artist too, as you've noticed! I paint with acrylics and watercolor (sometimes both at the same time...) multimedia, I draw with graphite, manga pens, or my beloved fountain pen, and I sometimes do a little digital stuff. I also take pictures. I'd love to get back into metal work and ceramics but... eh. Expensive. Sometimes I'll do manipulations but nothing too drastic. (And I write.) Good to meet you!

I used to sketch and draw a lot when I was younger. I just use a pencil or a pen and any piece of paper. Right now, I have no more time to do what I love to do.

Not having enough time is always frustrating... :( I try to make room for very small sketches when I find that I'm really busy. It helps me get out a small burst of creativity before going back to my routine.
