How to Get Your Partner to Bake

This is what I suspect is going on in hubby's beady brain. He is a smart cookie. Hubby needs to eat about two bananas daily to prevent leg cramps. Sometimes I remind him to buy bananas at work. He always does, and he almost always buys twice as many as we can possibly eat before they are too ripe. When the weather was hot, I made smoothies with them. It was refreshing. This weekend I have been staring at a basket full of over ripe bananas. No more of that! We now have two dozen full sized muffins, a dozen small muffins and a leftover muffin baked in a custard cup. The only bananas left are suitable for eating on their own. You should try this technique. Bring home yummy fruit that you know will ripen too fast. SOMEONE in your house will likely bake some muffins or a cake, or at the very least make you a smoothie.

That is just about the best way to use them up when they are turning too ripe to do anything else. Here it is now a season where baking feels good, it is getting cooler.

I am not certain he really thinks that way, but that is what happened to have me baking a double recipe of my " banana bread" as muffins.

I have used bananas in not sweet regular bread loaves. It softens the bread texture and adds sugar to the yeast to help it grow and leaven it.

That would be awesome. You have to have something for the yeast to eat. I will put bananas in pancakes too.

@sallypup I am sorry I made you hungry. My mom used to bake over ripe bananas with brown sugar. She liked them with pork chops.

@GardenGerty I used to go to a super nice cafe for breakfast. They made pancakes that had large banana rounds in their pancakes and warm apple syrup to pour over. Now I am hungry!
