Grey ... but not dull ...

Today was overcast, but it was quite pleasant taking our dog for a walk in the cooler temperature. My friend and I, @maggs224 went for a walk down by the river bed this morning as it was a bit cooler and overcast, but unfortunately, it was not as pleasant down there, as it was up where we are. It is just a five minute walk..., and the elevation is only very slightly lower... but..., sometimes the difference in the weather is quite marked, we think its because of the sea. When we took the dog for a walk it was overcast, and there was a pleasant breeze, but when we went down to the beach, which is a steep hill and five minute walk away ..., it was very humid, and no breeze at all, so it was not as pleasant to walk in... but we carried on down to the riverbed. We went to see how our mini wetlands were doing..., last time we had a look, they had all overgrown and were choked out with lots of plants, and there was a lot of silt and sludge on the riverbed and precious little water ... mind you it was in july.... Then when we went back another day they had done some pruning..., but what they had actually done, was cut practically all the greenery away, the reeds and bamboo and other river bed plants... it looked dreadful, but we thought perhaps it would help re oxygenate the water or allow the silt to flow down and out.... We have had a week of mixed weather.. a couple of torrential downpours, and some showery rainy days..., so maggs224 and myself wondered if the rainwater run off, had made it’s way down the mountain yet, and cleared some of the silt from the river bed, alas it has not, so that was a little disappointing too.. but it seems like the birds don’t care... quite a variety were flitting about, on and off the water... and there was other insect activity as well, we saw a lovely coloured beetle, see the photo in above collage, it was a deep green and deep red stripe.. neither of us had seen it before... but I have not got a clue what it is... I also included some flowers in the collage, that are still in bloom in this area..., providing little splashes of colour here and there...
