Not the First Snow for the Season, but the First Snow for Lower Michigan

It looks like we could have done windows today after all because instead of getting the rain that looked definite we're getting snow instead. It's almost forty on the thermometer, but the air above must be quite a bit colder to cause the snow to be hitting us now. I have a picture of it in my yard that I will post in a comment a bit later. I wasn't going to post anything again today, but this one had to be said. Also, probably the west side of the state got the snow before it showed up here, so maybe SuzanZ got snow before we did, and I know the upper penisula got snow already some weeks ago.

I don't think we will get any here this winter, but I could be wrong. Last winter was most disappointing in that respect.

There are a LOT of berries on the hawthorn and rose bushes this autumn. I know it's an old wives' tale but I'm not ruling out snow this winter. Mind you, in the East of England we rarely get a decent covering unless the wind is coming direct from the Urals but I think the rest of Britain may see some.

@owlwings EEK have you seen the news? I think I may have been totally mistaken. We are in for a very cold spell.
BRITAIN is just weeks away from a major Arctic freeze as alarms are sounded to brace for the coldest and snowiest winter for years.

@Jackalyn Hmmm ... I hadn't seen that report or anything like it but I'm certainly stocking up on Rose Hip Gin and looking out the wellies.

Love that picture. It's been raining here all day. I think I live in the wrong place. I'm slightly jealous of your snow. It's time for me to get out my snowflake necklaces and encourage the weather here.

@just4him We'll all have to wait till the next snow storm comes in before I can let you have any of mine as what we got last week melted the next day and it's been fairly lovely since then, other than the rainy day we had today.

@MarshaMusselman It looks like it finally stopped raining here. I'll take whatever snow you want to give me.

BBBUUURRRR, that's too cold for this time of year, it's about 85 or so here and I don't look forward to the days when it'll get down to 60.

I'm sure it is the same front. we have warmer temps following this front, so maybe you'll get those too. I finally got the pictures back that I sent in via work. Most of the images came through with only about four that were black. I didn't opt to get a cd since I didn't know how many would be clear enough, but they sent one anyway and therefore, it ended up costing me 26.00. I wasn't too happy about that. Did you get the envelopes from the york photo labs yet?

Wow, a lot of areas have already had snow. We had a big dump of snow and I really thought it was going to be white until spring. But fall returned!

It's getting warmer again on Saturday and then on Mon and Tues, so the snow will be long gone for a while again.

@MarshaMusselman ours is gone, but I don't know for how long. Time to check the ski resorts and see if they have any snow accumulating.

Makes me cold just thinking about winter. In my state of CT, some possible snow is expected in the north western area possibly tomorrow. I dread winter and snow and all that coming soon.

We've had snow in October in the past. It's not come for the last few years, but it'll probably be another month or so before we get any more of that white stuff, or at least that's what I'm hoping for.
