I Owe $4,000

Like many American families, mine is in debt. After my gall bladder surgery in September we now owe ober $4,000 and the collection agents are calling daily. On top of that we have 2 kids birthdays this month, and Christmas right around the corner! I've been looking into free places online to try and sell some of our things (and my our things I mean my things because hubby won't part with any of his) to earn a little extra money. There are several options of free online stores with no listing fees. Places like blujay and storenvy. There is ebay of course, which would probably get more views than anything else, but aside from having to pay fees after the sell, historically I've not been able to make any sells there. Its one of those catch 22's, where I don't have any ranking so I can't make any sells, but I can't make any sells because I have no ranking. Do any of you have any suggestions of the best place to sell (gently used) items (books, clothes knicknacks) online?

In my own country, I want to sell some things because I have to move to a smaller house. But books have no value at all and neither have knicknacks. I´ll get something for furniture and for some of my appliances.

Yep, no real value here either, but a buck or two would come in hand. It woudln't put a dent in the $4k, but it would maybe get a present for the boys or the husband.

@marguicha I'm making a blanket for my husband, but I don't think I'll have it done. Also, the yarn is costing more than buying a darn blanket! lol

Amazon is Great when it comes to Used books. Only drawback is there is a Fee associated with selling there, and they only pay once every 2 weeks.

I don't have a lot of suggestions I'm afraid - or any really. Can any of your items becomes Christmas gifts? What a bout a swapmeet with a group of friends? Wouldn't make you money but might bring you something of more use.

I have no selling suggestions. For extra money I do mystery shopping. They take a while to pay so not much help before Christmas. I do make a couple of hundred per month. I am very glad we do not get a bill after being in the hospital

I'd not be much of a mystery shopper, I'm at my day job all the time and dont really want to spend my day off shopping.

If you want to sell fast, research first how much others are selling a similar item then price it way below theirs, it's a sacrifice you will have to make and to get some rankings. Also make use of the "buy now" and "best offer" button option to maximize the potential market

EBay is a good reliable choice & fees are generally low. Our township also has a yardsale page on Facebook where people sell items & meet in a safe place for the exchange. Maybe there's one in your local area?
