An inconvenient illness

Not my kitchen, but our colors.

Not that accidents and sickness are ever convenient, but they're a part of life. We've started remodeling our kitchen and of course, everything is in a mess. I have dishes in one of the bedrooms, appliances on the dining room table, and there's no telling where the popcorn and potato chips are! My arm has been hurting for a week or more, so I finally went to the doctor today. He gave me an injection in my shoulder (possible rotator cuff issues) and told me to completely rest that arm for two days. Two days???!!! I need to clean out more cabinets, paint walls, and whatever else we need to do. Plus, I was scheduled to work the next three days at my part time job. Hope my boss (at work, not my husband! ) can get someone else. My husband has grounded me from doing any work at home, but I hate that it puts more on him. Oh well, maybe if I behave and rest, I won't need shoulder surgery. That really would be inconvenient.

I had rotator cuff issues (right shoulder) two years ago, I refused surgery and physiotherapy was enough to get back by shoulder like new. It took two months.

@1creekgirl Yes, my shoulder is okay now. For a moment I thought I had to accept surgery. I am glad that I waited.

I hope typing doesn't bother your injury! It's good if you can get in some real rest so you can heal and stop hurting. The work will be waiting for you when you're ready!!! lol

i"m trying to type with one hand, so it"s slow going! The work won"t be waiting though, we need to finish the remodeling. Some of our grown kids are coming next week to help.

It is very inconvenient when something happens to us when we are in the middle of doing things and then have to stop for a days. i remember when I had cortizone shots in my shoulder I could not do anything for a whole week. That shot what I had to do. it is very hard when that happens.

It was a short time-out, but we eventually got it all done and now I'm enjoying my new kitchen. I did end up having rotator cuff surgery the following year. It's still healing, but better than it was.

@1creekgirl Glad it worked out for both and you have a nice new kitchen now Vicki. Glad the surgery went well and glad it is healing. I injured my right shoulder and was given the wrong information from a doctor what to do and that screwed me over. I do not want surgery on it so live with it. Nothing really helped it and believe me I tried so much.

I hope your shoulder heals. Be sure to rest it, though I do admire your work ethic. Hubby wants you to take care of yourself. :)

Oh my, you've really been through a lot! I hope this injection will be enough for now if I can keep from moving my arm very much. Sure don't want surgery if I can avoid it. How long ago did you have surgery?

Any other time would be fine, but like I said, there's really never a convenient time to be sick. But God is merciful!

I hate being incapacitated when there are lots of things I want to be doing. Hope your shoulder doesn't develop into anything worse.
