What is the healthiest diet in the world?

Yesterday I visited several friends that are ill, one at home and two in the hospitals. I noticed that what they ate was far from ideal. And so, every once in a while I think of improving my diet. Today this thought came to mind. So I googled, "the healthiest diet in the world" and came up with an interesting article which will accompany this post. There are some common actions amongst those that are the healthiest. I found this very, very interesting: “The only overlapping feature in most of these healthy countries around the world is that they all walk way more than the average American,” said Pasternak. “So really, regardless of what you’re eating, if someone’s walking four miles more than you each day, they’re going to be a lot thinner and live a lot longer than you.” What are your thoughts on healthy eating and walking? Why do you think exercise is important?

Walking is a proper exercise for everybody. We have a saying here: If you have a walk after a meal, you will live until 99 years old. Today people sit too much. And they prefer to drive rather than walk. This is why it is easy for them to be overweight. As to the diet, I think Japanese diet is very healthy. At first, they will not eat so much. Perhaps this is their habit. In fact in ancient, our ancestors also told us to eat less and dress less would be good for the health. Japanese eat a lot of fish and this is a very healthy meat. They also enjoy vegetables. They have simple cooking and it will not spoil the nutrition from the food. Too much processing will add the chemical stuff to the food and this is harmful.

I think that walking is important, but in my opinion some people eat too many prepared products. I always make everything at home from scratch.

@LadyDuck Well, we are paying for it as we see how many hospitals, doctors, and pharmacies we have.

@HAPPSINGH It's never good for our health to eat more than our body needs.

That is true . To be truly healthy , we sould not only eat healthy foods but also get to exercise at least 30 minutes a day . Avoid having a sedentary life .

In North America we sit too much, we sit while we are on the computer, we sit in our automobiles and are not very active.

@1hopefulman That's an unhealthy lifestyle . Good thing here , the comfort rooms are outside our office and have to go over the bowling area to use it . And since i urinate a lot , i get to exercise myself by briskly walking to it .

@SIMPLYD Yes, the hospitals are full of sick people. So sad! Maybe we should encourage everyone to drink lots of water so that can get their exercise by having to run often to the bathroom?

My doctor gave me a diet sheet. It said to eat only this: beans, fruit, vegetables, and drink only water. I said, "Do you really think I will follow that?" He just laughed.

@akalinus I think he was trying to urge you to eat more healthy foods. We don''t have to be perfect. We just need to do more of it. Don't forget some exercise!

@1hopefulman I used to walk with a friend. She had an emergency and had to go back home. She never came back so I have not been walking. Pizza was not on that diet sheet, .

Very interesting. Since my move I've changed my entire diet to be more healthy. I've also started swimming. Walking will just need to wait until I can get a good portion of this weight off and keep it off.

Eat a balanced diet and get exercise is the best thing. Diets are just fads and a new one comes along every day. My opinion is not too much fat, salt or sugar and plenty of exercise. My reality is somewhat different

Walking is the best exercise so when one walks regularly, he is most likely healthier than the one who does not. BUT, I believe healthy diet and walking must go hand and hand otherwise even if you walk regularly but eating badly, then it will not make you a healthy person either.

I believe not dieting is the best diet. What I mean is eating healthy. Eating in proportion and not to get full.

Very interesting, isn't it? We don't eat meat and avoid other animal products too. For us, the more veggies we eat, the better.

I'm also convinced that fruits and vegetables are healthy foods. Meat should be eaten sparingly, if at all.

True! We also need to avoid making our meals out of junk foods that have little nutrition and many harmful additives that are not food at all.

Most healthy diets include more fresh vegetables and fruits. But yes exercise is important and it seems that walking is the best, I guess it is what we are designed to do!

Exercise and a healthy diet go hand in hand. I'm a walker and bike rider. I also limit sweets, dairy, fats, and bad carbs and try to read labels.

I'm looking at the dash diet, good for blood pressure. Also I'm cutting back meat, not so easy to do. I think be me doing a ton of walking has saved my health quite a bit!!! Old folk worked hard and did physical work and didn't have diabetes and things until their older years. Now young people have this at 20 with heart attacks and all.

@db20747 Yes, I have heard of it. It is certainly going in the right direction. Right now I follow a diet of eating fruits, vegetables, a few nuts a some seeds without cooking anything. I eat everything fresh and raw. I do this most of the time. I have been doing this for about 15 years and have not needed any medications for anything. I drink about 6-8 glasses of water every day and do some daily exercises. I think this is an even better diet.

I always think exercise is important, and one has to eat well and exercise in order to have good health. But, I don't agree that we will be healthy if we just walk more and exercise more, but do not care of what we eat, especially for when we are older, exercise is just not enough, I think we need to watch our diet too.

great stuff you found there,I've been trying to lose some pounds lately.surely will be back to dieting soon

Thanks! There are foods that are healthier so may we enjoy those most of the time. There are foods that have no nutrition and let us avoid those most of the time. Let's not forget to lead an active life and do some movement. May you soon be the shape you want and need!
