I Could Get an Appointment

This afternoon I got a chance to call the chiropractor. I really trust this doctor, and have had a good health and wellness relationship with him. We talked about my knee. He says it sounds like a plica. If you look that up, it is when synovial tissue or synovial folds get irritated and inflamed. He says I cannot prevent it. So, what did he do for me? He examined my knee. Explained what he felt was the problem. He did an adjustment. I also received an infrared treatment on my knee. Then the Doc applied kinesio tape to the curve of my knee and above and below it. The tape will stay on a few days. It is shower proof. Taping is supposed to provide muscle support, lift the skin slightly to allow lymphatic circulation and sort of retrain tired and injured muscles. When I look it up online it seems many like it, use it, believe in it, but. . . other experts state that if it has any results it is due to the placebo effect. The entire appointment cost me $25 is all. I feel I definitely got my money's worth. Doc says to ice my knee too, to take down inflammation. He also has always suggested ginger for pain, and now turmeric for inflammation as well.

He is very effective and he does not make people come back constantly just to fill his pockets.

I had very few cramps. I was lucky or odd in my family. I find that a warm swim is a good healer for almost anything.

The mention of icing your knee has me imagining it decorated with pink and white icing like a cake. Perfect for the Christmas season.

I had the same treatment when I had a problem to my knee, no infrared, but ultrasounds treatment, the tape and the doctor said to ice my knee. It worked.

Definitely sounds like a good doctor. How are you going to take the turmeric? I've also been told to use turmeric but I don't know what to do with it! lol I have a baker's cyst behind one of my knees and that's been causing me all kinds of pain. I've been down this road before and I know that icing it helps, as well as something for inflammation. I just hate having to ice my knee in the cold weather! lol Hope you're much better soon!

Turmeric is a chief ingredient in most curries. I use it in many of my Mexican dishes as well. It is good on scrambled eggs or any savory dish. If I make hummus I put it and cumin in the beans.I keep a shaker of equal parts turmeric, ginger, cumin and black pepper on my table. These things seem to work synergistically, when I remember to use them.

@GardenGerty I'll have to give it a try and see how it goes. I don't know anyone locally who cooks with it, so I've been a bit lost. I'll definitely have to try it the next time I make Mexican food, thanks!

The physical therapist put that tape on the legs of my niece Amyra. I see so many people on American Ninja Warrior wearing it too.

I do hope all the things you're doing will help. It's amazing how they put tape here, there and everywhere for some problems. Hard to imagine that it actually helps but my friend spent a few weeks with her shoulder taped and it seemed to help.

I feel that it certainly cannot hurt. I forget it is there. If it helps that is all the better.

I find that the adjustments do help. I think I need to do something that will strengthen my knees, as well. I had bunion surgery almost seven years ago and that helped because I walk better. Women tend to have bad knees.
