A Calendar for our Friends

@AbbyGreenhill added a photo to her comment on one of my posts. It shows their lovely Labrador, Ruby, complete with Christmas garland and the photo was used as a Christmas card. These were done at Walmart. In Australia, we have various outlets which print photos and provide the option to get cards, books, calendars, etc made at the same time. We stayed with a young family recently in another state and have now made a calendar for them with photos of the kids for each month. Vince takes lots of photos anyway but once we thought of the idea of a calendar he made a special effort to get enough that we'd be able to choose 12 really nice ones. I'll add one of my favourites here. The calendar will get posted in the next day or two. I hope they'll like it.

My grandma used to make a calendar to give to us every year that contained photos of the family. We loved it and eagerly looked forward to a new calendar each year to see what photos she selected to include.

For the last few years of her life we made one each year for my Mum. She loved them too. Now they're sitting in the cupboard and I'm finding it difficult to throw them out.

@JudyEv That would be difficult to throw out. There is such sentimental value attached to those calendars. I think you should keep them!

@moffittjc I am keeping them. Once we're gone, it will be easy for someone else to throw them out.

@JudyEv Strictly my wife's. The year started with 5 but now we care down to 2.

@xFiacre That sounds a bit sad - but think of the saving in cat food!

I am sure it did. How many cats do you have - or are they strictly your wife's?

I made up a calendar one year for my parents as well. It had all the family photos like the grandchildren etc. I love personalized presents like that.

@JudyEv I have seen those blankets they are too pretty to use so a wall hanging is an awesome idea.

With technology the way it is, there seems no limit to the personalised gifts you can organise. When my mother turned 100, we had a blanket made which showed all her children, grandies and great-grandies. It ended up made into a wall-hanging.

@shaggin My dear old Mum has passed on now and my sister is stuck with it but most of those on the rug are from her extended family so that's all okay.

This is an excellent idea, now I am tempted to make a calendar with a recipe and a photo of the result for each month.

@LadyDuck I'm sure it would be very well received. You could probably sell at least a few dozen to your myLot friends.

We managed to find a couple of photos of the Mum and Dad as well - and we've put all their birthdays in the appropriate squares - and we've put our birthdays in as well!

The ones we quite like have 12 photos and one each on the back and front and they are about the size of an A3 sheet of paper with spiral spine and a photo at the top and squares and dates on the bottom. They are about $A16 but you can get smaller one with just one photo or desk-type calendars. If you go to the Snapfish or Vistaprint website you will be able to see examples. :)

We did a calendar for ourselves after our overseas trip. Years back, we used to get a few calendars from various businesses but they don't seem to do that any more.

There is a program now which straightens them all up for you. I've get to find one that makes people open their eyes as you take the photo.

that is a great action shot. I am sure they will like the calendar. Several years ago, I collected enough photographs to make a family calendar. Photos from when we were kids, and through the years etc. My husband printed on our printer 12 photos for each of 5 calendars. Well, that was expensive. Now, getting them printed somewhere at Walmart is a lot more reasonable.

For us, it is an affordable way of printing the calendars. Every now and then, they have special discounts or offers and if you're organised, you can get the calendars or whatever when the price is really low.

That's a great idea. For several years now I've made calendars for our family using photos I've taken. I love to look back at the photos. My daughter said one time, "We'd better try to look our best because this might end up in one of Mama's calendars!"

I have made calendars in the past using my own photos for the family. I've also toyed to make my own blank cards, you can get the paper and envelopes in batches at the better craft stores. That sounds like a lovely gift.

Thanks. We think it's pretty cool! I misread your comment as 'when I was still celebrated'. I thought maybe you were once someone important ... but then I read it again. :) But most people need a calendar whether they're celebrated or not.
