As someone of Asian descent I got so sick of the stereotype that we eat cats and dogs.... Some regions eats them because carnivorous mammals have body warming properties and people from those cold climate eats them for that reason. It is actually a declining tradition but there are still westerners out there who is pushing this stereotype. I remember someone asked my if I eat dog meat just because I am part Asian.... I tried tolerating that and I told them it is illegal in my country and only a small portion of the population does it. I don't eat dog because I know their meat have parasites that can't be killed by cooking. That person kept on pushing the stereotype by asking questions....If I was impatient I might have punched that person in the face. Anyway despite of the fact Asians are always being attacked by this stereotypes, No one bats an eye that dog meat is legal in Canada. Yup it is legal in Canada. Recently there is an outrage on facebook because of a Restaurant in Switzerland that serves dog and cat meat. Cat and dog meat use to be a part of Swiss cuisine but it became obsolete when Swiss people started loving them as pets. The goal of the restaurant owner is to revive a dead tradition and share his grandma's recipe to his country men. [em]lol[/em Why do Asians always get the blame about this? There are other regions in the world that does it but they dont get blamed.
New restaurant called La Table Suisse is first to serve dog and cat meat in Europe.

@Sasquatchy What is your reaction about the restaurant that serves dog meat. I found out dog meat is legal in Canada. It is not something I would eat but I am shocked to se it legal in a western country.

I didn't know that about Canada - but I definitely know about the Asian stereotype. I have a stupid racist neighbor who tells me she won't eat Chinese food out here because she doesn't know what's really in their food - but she suspects dogs . I can't tell you how many jokes I've heard everywhere about people wondering if their Asian neighbors have eaten their lost dogs. I do remember seeing some video on how they skin cats for consumption - but that was years ago - I believe that was in China though . . . for whatever reason Asians get the blunt of being pet eaters.

@CaptAlbertWhisker That's what I thought - it's not like people have to keep their pets on guard as if their neighbors have an eye on them for dinner .

I dont agree with eating dogs but the pet napping stereotype needs to stop. There is an specific breed they farm for food.

As long as most people don't eat cats and dogs, but if that is true then people have the right to be angry.

I dont condemn people for their culture anymore. Forcing a culture to someone seemed to be a violation of human rights. At least they should be humane on the way they kill animals.

It's hard to break a stereotype. The idea of eating cat or dog is repulsive to me.
