Smoker wanna quit

December 22, 2016 6:02pm CST
I am a smoker. And I don't want to be anymore. I tried to quit many times and I can only do it for like a week every time, but then somehow I end up with a cigarette in my hand again, with the impression that I can quit later. I am kidding myself. Anyone here familiar with the problem that might have some useful advice for me? Anyone tried and succeeded getting away from this tobacco monster's grip? I will very much appreciate responses. Thank you.

Successfully quit. Wrote about this several times on other sites. Gave 'lecture' about this at a local college. One of the best ways to stop is to eliminate a few at a time. Eliminate more as you feel able to cope with the loss of the nicotine. You will get there!

I don't smoke. I tried smoking but i don't feel the need to do it every single day. I can't take it. It's good that you want to quit smoking but you have to slowly stop smoking.. like if you smoke 10 sticks in a day try 5 sticks for a week or two... then slowly decrease the number of sticks on daily basis until you get comfortable with it.. of not wanting to smoke.

Thank you. It does seem like an idea that could work.

My brother in law used to smoke a lot and one day he coughed out some blood and stopped smoking just like that... Surely I don't wish you to have to be sick to quit smoking - I do wish you will soon find an effective way to get to your wish of stop smoking.

Is there a fruit that will give you substitute from a smoke? withdrawal usually makes you sick at first.

I don't know about that. Withdrawal makes me cranky :-)))

I know of people who started smoking less and succeeded. Don't know of cases where people completely stopped though. But I believe it is possible if you have the will

Did you try those chewing gums that help quit smoking? If not, give it a try.

fortunately I never started smoking - I know it will be tough for you and anyone to break the habit - try just not having another cig no matter what - the first month will be hard but t should get easier after that but I know smokers who quite and started again up to 9 years later so always be on your guard - good luck
