Well, almost. The car we do have that does run is not starting this morning. It is only 10 F. Not sure what that translates to in C. Maybe I should look it up. Well, we have two others that will run, but are not in shape to drive. Yeah, still a pesky bolt holding up the works on the Monte Carlo. Hubby says if he tried to drive it it would fall apart on the road. Things will work out eventually. Meanwhile, I am toasty warm inside the house.I have hot coffee in me I ate a big breakfast.. I am taking a light lunch today, though. Maybe I will continue to lose a little weight. We will have beans and cornbread tonight. We shall see what the new year will bring at work.

You seem so cool about not being able to go outdoors. What was it that you wanted to do and now are cool about it.

I was upset that hubby has spent so much time trying to get a car going, and could not. I got some perspective on the situation, realized how good my life is anyway, and what my alternatives are. I was upset about being unsure how I was getting to work.

I remember when I was a young girl my mom had to put a heater in under the hood of the car so she could start it the next morning. We had much worse winters then.

During my first marriage, my husband was an over the road trucker. I had to take care of the home fort. I was a bus driver and had to get up and get to work. The heater in my house was a gas stove type. I always kept buckets of water on it, and some bricks as well. I would open the hood to the car in the morning and put a hot brick on the air filter and it would warm the car enough to start it. Other hot bricks were wrapped in towels to warm up cold beds.

As long as you are toasty and full, you've got life by the horns.

I confirm what @Happy2BeMe wrote, the temperature in Celsius is -12, it's cold, but not extremely cold.

At my other house we had a winter where all my house plants froze due to wind chill with an actual temp of -15, and then wind too.

@GardenGerty I remember that 10 years ago many people had their external pipes that froze due to the extreme cold. I always close the garden water and our pipes are underground and protected.

I get pretty anxious when cars are playing up. It seems to be one thing that I have trouble coping with.

@GardenGerty I really worry about getting stuck somewhere although I like to think I am pretty laid back in other areas. With mobile phones, I guess there is a bit less to worry about but car problems still concern me.

Oh dear. Good breakfast but not a good start to the Day as such. Cars have a habit of doing things like that in very cold weather. All the Cars around here are suffering too in starting up at least some of them.

We have a number of cars, each with just a bit wrong, but enough to make some of them undriveable. Hope to have a "garage" sale next spring.

That sums it up nicely. The cars that will start do not run for various reasons.

That sounds like about -11 or 12C, its pretty cold. I hope that you get your car on the road again so that you can safely get to work and back again.

I rode the bus in with the kids. Hubby took the day off, it was his birthday. The car did not start until afternoon.

Yeah, that was the final straw on the one car we had that was still road worthy. One of our cars needs a stubborn bolt removed and a part put on, part is already purchased, bolt is stubborn. One vehicle needs transmission fluid drained and filter changed. Supplies already purchased, just to cold to make it work. etc. etc.
