Why didn't I think of Chocolate Dipped Churro with Almonds?

United States
January 6, 2017 1:59am CST
We went out of town today and usually I always want to drop by a trendy dessert spot. The place we stopped by this afternoon is called "The Loop", essentially known for their handcrafted churros! You can have your churros dipped, glazed with toppings or chilled with yogurt. They also sell drinks. The menu is fairly simple, my boyfriend & I spilt the Choco Crunch - a chocolate glaze with almonds sprinkled. The churro was pipping hot and tasted fresh! The chocolate glaze with almonds is a brilliant touch, very satisfying but for the price ... I sure wanted the chocolate to be coated more and not just at the loop part.. and on one side. Have you ever come across a food combination and wished you thought of that first? But then again, the menu is so simple that I'd be sick of churros.

I've only ever tried churros once and they weren't great. I'm not sure if they weren't made right or if I just expected something better. I think I'd try this and see if it changed my mind about churros.

I don't like Costco churros if those were the ones you tried! I thought these were way better but wouldn't eat it on the daily. I just like to try out new spots every time we go out of town.

@infatuatedbby Yes! Those were the ones I tried. I don't know of anywhere else around me that sells churros, unless you count the bagged frozen things at the grocery store and those are worse than Costco's!

@katsmeow1213 Oh I never tried the frozen ones that won't be too good either. I am not a fan of Costco churros so I was hesitate to try these but they were delicious =)

Oh, yes. The chocolate covered banana comes to might. A simple menu is nice for Libras. Hard for them to make decisions.

It does seem a bit too little chocolate, that's for sure. That looks delicious though, and I hope you and your boyfriend enjoyed it nonetheless.

It looks like a lot of chocolate but its only coated on that one side. My boyfriend had a few bites and I did too so it wasn't much. For one, it'd be overwhelming but most end up sharing the churros. We sure did enjoy it, thank you - the churro was pipping hot!

@infatuatedbby I love churros but I've never seen one this big. It's usually about as long as a pencil, atleast the ones I've had. I bet you could ask for more chocolate, but they'd have charged you for it.

@ScribbledAdNauseum I never seen small churros unless its kid sized :) Yeah, toppings were additional .50 cents, and I bet they'd charge for the extra chocolate.

I have never tried churros, they look pretty greasy and I am not sure I would like to add chocolate to something that is already greasy. It is true that Americans eat chocolate coated donuts, so you have the habit.
