Yes, Yoga is not just a stretch exercise on the door mat! It can be rather extreme! For example, I do anti-gravity yoga, which is fairly active. It is also great fun and helps to improve my balance a lot. Ever heard of anti-gravity yoga? Do you exercise? Picture is from: anti-gravity yoga ireland

I think that if I get into a yoga position, I will be stuck there forever.

@Drosophila Maybe hanging upside down will stretch you enough to touch your toes when you are rightside up.

I have heard about it, I think it is called aerial yoga in my country. I like yoga and I would be excited to try this, but it's more expensive comparing to other types of yoga! I imagine it's for higher level students and requires more strength and stability. I exercise regularly and I find new types of workouts very enjoyable! How was your exprience comparing to other types of yoga?

@Drosophila This pose looks quite diffucult, congrats on doing the upside hang! I am flexible as well but I need more arm strength.

@besweet well in this pose it's the fabrics that's wrapped around your shoulders, back, that's holding you up. Everyone can do it. The instructor can "flip" you to the position, in your first lesson. The really difficult one is the 360 degree flip and then sit back up right, it's called the cow girl/boy

not at all, I'm reasonably flexible, and did my upside hang the first class.

@Drosophila I run and swim. And in between, I do whatever I feel like doing. Sometimes its weightlifting. Sometimes it's mountain biking. Sometimes it's kayaking. I just like to stay active.

You know, when I was younger and much more fit, I would have loved doing something like that. These days, basic yoga works better for me and my joints. It's a shame no one was doing anti-gravity yoga when I was ready and able to tackle it!

I haven't heard about anti-gravity yoga yet. And in fact I am not very interested in yoga since it is not an exercise that fits me. I prefer to have a walk or swim much more.

I agree, yoga wasn't my thing first either, after I tried anti-gravity yoga, I've decided that's more suitable for me

You've got the picture upside down! No wait, they are suspended upside down. That's definitely a young persons activity. I can't see how I could manage to get into the hammock never mind get into that position. I think associating it with yoga is a misrepresentation. You must be well fit.

@Drosophila For some reason, I do not see my legs staying up, I could never do a cartwheel, one leg would always bend. I just can't imagine it , at all... easy for some, but not for me.

@CookieMonster46 well there's a slight variation of this pose where you wrap your legs around the fabrics. To be honest in this pose it's more the fabrics holding you up, than anything else
