When we look at the news or even just looking at some people in the neighbourhood or in the work-place we seem to see people displaying exactly the characteristics foretold in 2 Timothy chapter three verses two to five. 2 Timothy 3:1 King James Version (KJV) 3 This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. Further it tells us that people would be getting worse and worse. 2 Timothy 3:13 King James Version (KJV) 13 But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived. From your observation of the way people act, do you think that we could possible be living in the "last days" that the Bible predicted and that soon this wicked world will end and a new world begin where there will be peace, prosperity and eternal life?

Who told you that? These stupid people are just following some hoax. There have been many last days including 2012.

@yugocean Nobody told me anything. I was reading that chapter of the Bible and it made me wonder, especially after seeing the news story of what happened in the Brazil prison massacre. I know that some have put dates as to when the predicted events in the Bible would occur but the Bible itself tells us that nobody knows the day and the hour. Have you been reading and studying the Bible for a long time?

@jstory07 Yes, there have been many predictions as to when the Bible events would take place and so far they have all been wrong. Nevertheless, the Bible has many symptoms to look at that would all have to be there at the same time to have an idea as to when it would actually happen. When I saw the news story of the brutal massacre in the Brazil prison, the constant brutal acts of terrorism and so on, the way the USA, Russia and China are behaving and so on, it just made me wonder if we are actually getting closer to the end of a wicked world and a new and fresh beginning?

People have been mean since the beginning of times, now we know more because we are connected all the day, in my opinion nothing really changed from the past. If you have studied history, you surely know that powerful have always killed and tortured and robbed the others.

Yes, that is true! So you see nothing different and there is no need for concern. It doesn't matter with what is happening with the USA, Russia and China. We can all go back to sleep, all is safe, all is well.

@LadyDuck But think about it Anna? If there would be another world war, what do you think could happen, that could never have happened before? Do you see the difference between today and and any other time in history?

That is true about false predictions being made. Remember, the story about the boy who cried wolf?

@arthurchappell Let's put religion aside for a second. Do you think the way mankind is going is bringing us to a better world or to the end of the world?

I am just stating my point of view and my concern but I get this feeling when I see the news reports that things are not good, that world disaster is just around the corner. However, that is not bad news since the Bible predicted all the conditions and characteristics we see in the world today. That being so, the new world will follow, as the Bible tells us about a new world, where Jesus will be king and there will be peace and prosperity, health and eternal life. So world disaster and then a new world. If that's what God wants, who can stop it?

@db20747 Yes, we have an example in the book of Jonah. He send Jonah to warn the Ninevites that God was going to wipe them out. However, when they changed their ways, even though Jonah got upset at what God did, God did not destroy the Ninevites. (See 2 Peter 3;9) But most people today, despite repeated warnings, are not changing their ways but they are becoming even more destructive.

@1hopefulman He doesn't want the world to end this way. It's just the plan, the way it turned out. He's dealing with human nature and it's going to be dramatic. It going to take that to make people come around!

Not even close. I see the news then I look around me and what do I see? I see the exact opposite. People being polite, kind, helpful and friendly. After tooting the 'last days' horn for several hundred decades I would think people would be tired of waiting for disaster and eager to get on with living.

Yes, there are kind, helpful, friendly, loving people. But are there not also thieves, murderers, rapists, heartless people? Why do I and everyone in my apartment building have locks on our doors? Can we not live our lives and keep an eye of the direction of the world? I live my life but also check the weather report to see what is on the horizon. I realise that there are different ways of looking at things and I appreciate your participation here. Live long and prosper!

@db20747 No argument from me there! However, as the Bible predicted, the earth is full of violence and the earth is being ruined and the good news of the kingdom is being preached in all the earth. (See Matthew 24:14)

We have to be the watchmen on the wall. But we can't live everyday in dreadful fear. The end of the world would come in 2000 many said and here it is 2018!!!

@db20747 You are right, we can't live in fear but it is good to be aware and alert. The Bible has much that we can take to heart. The "signs" are here but we do not know the day and the hour. I am convinced that one day soon God will act to remove wickedness from the earth and put things in place so that there will be abundance peace on the earth I am eager for that. There is a new "earth" on the horizon!

Those of us who study the Bible carefully can see prophecies being fulfilled in front of our eyes. According to Daniel chapter 2 we live during the 7th worldpower and next Kingdom will be the one when Christ will rule over the earth and bring peace and health to all mankind Jesus was preaching these good news of the Kingdom.. see Daniel 2:44 There is an online Bible in jw.org

Many of the signs that Jesus talked about are happening, more right now than any other time in History... "You will hear of wars and rumors of wars, but see to it that you are not alarmed. Such things must happen, but the end is still to come." "There will be famines and earthquakes in various places. All these are the beginning of birth pains." I want to remind you that in the last days there will come scoffers who will do every wrong they can think of, and laugh at the truth. This will be their line of argument: ‘So Jesus promised to come back, did He? Then where is He? He'll never come! Why, as far back as anyone can remember everything has remained exactly as it was since the first day of creation.'" There will be terrible times in the last days. People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God—having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them." and upon the earth distress of nations, with perplexity; the sea and the waves roaring; Men's hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth: for the powers of heaven shall be shaken.' Therefore shall the land mourn, and every one that dwelleth therein shall languish, with the beasts of the field, and with the fowls of heaven; yea, the fishes of the sea also shall be taken away.' Then shall they deliver you up to be afflicted, and shall kill you: and ye shall be hated of all nations for my name's sake. And then shall many be offended, and shall betray one another, and shall hate one another.' And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. I am also looking at what is happening tommorow....Jan 15th...Is it all nations coming against Jersualem. Did not God say he would go after anyone that divided Jersualem.... Did the usa bring about what is happening in paris tommorow, will they try to divided Jersualem, and will God divide the USA, and any other country involved......???????????

Thanks for pointing out to all those other scriptures to give a full picture that we are indeed in the last days and the time remaining for this world is indeed very short now. Now is not the time to lose faith or fall spiritually asleep. Now is the time to stay awake and keep on the watch for our Lord is about to come.

I think that we are approaching the last days. According to scientists, this world won´t go beyond 2070 due to global warming and pollution. Also because of technological advances and the depletion of natural resources

Awake even the manicians are starting fights as in the picture above. The message went out. An end is coming. A beginning in store. The only question is how will a new beginning occur. Goodness.

Things will always reflect what we focus on. We can't see something different than what we consistently focus on. I'm not denying that things seem to be getting worse though.

Jani, no one is saying that there aren't any positive things or any good people. However, the way mankind is going, is life going to get easier in the near future? We see violent acts in schools, shopping centres, workplaces, etc. We see potential for another world war? We see the potential even for a nuclear war. The Bible predicted for the "last days" difficult times and difficult people. It doesn't take much or many to cause suffering and pain to many. Over-all, the world is not becoming a safer and happier place.

We're getting there, but we're not there yet. Look at Matthew 24, particularly verse 6. Jesus describes the world much as we see it today, but the end isn't yet. Verse 8 says it's the beginning of sorrows.

Perhaps Jesus is weeping over us even more today than then
All of this, only God knows of course, but the way things are going, mankind does seem to be rushing towards an unhappy ending right now. 1 Corinthians chapter 7, verse 29-31 New Revised Standard Version of the Christian Bible. "I mean, brothers and sisters, the appointed time has grown short; from now on, let even those who have wives be as though they had none, and those who mourn as though they were not mourning, and those who rejoice as though they were not rejoicing, and those who buy as though they had no possessions, and those who deal with the world as though they had no dealings with it. For the present form of this world is passing away." I wonder what Saint Paul meant here, given that another 2000 years have passed by now. Saint Paul, I would guess, simply meant that the disciples/apostles of the Lord would all soon die (in his time), and so immediate direct personal contact with Jesus, and with those who knew him, while he lived on the Earth here, would cease forever in this way, until he comes again.
