Living from Paycheck to Paycheck

Hello MyLotters! I don't really know about anyone but sometimes I am stuck between living from one paycheck to another. It can be frustrating at times because when you think after working for a whole month then paying those required bills after receiving your pay, you have but just your fare left. I have gone days without lunch because I couldn't afford it as my money would have been finished so early. I am always grateful when I find a part time job no matter how small because at the end of the day it does help. Have you lived from Paycheck to Paycheck and how did it make you feel?

It never happened to me. Since I was 5 years old, I save every penny I have. I only spend my money on needs (food, toiletries, and fare). No wants. I strictly followed that rule since then and it made me financially secure.

Same here...I get only what I need and eliminate wants. I have to work with what my paycheck can manage.

You are not alone. There are a lot of people who love that way. Even though it is frustrating there are people who don't even have a job and are far worse off. Things will get better.

Not so much anymore. We're getting into a better phase of life and just trying not to spend as much as we used to. You should make sure you budget enough money for groceries so you can have lunch everyday.

@Jam4321 Don't you bring lunch from home? You should, it's far cheaper than eating out everyday. At least you could just bring a sandwich instead of totally skipping lunch.

I do that most times but there are time there is so little left it can only do the grocery for home. I am still trying to work out a step in getting it better.

@katsmeow1213 I do take from home when I can but whenever the food is only enough for home (sometimes) I mostly have tea during the day.

being unemployed I have to stretch welfare payments out as long as possible - it often means not going out or lmiting my food consumption

I guess many young people and young couples go through this phase in life. Hopefully over time it will get better. Do you try to budget at all?

So true and yes I do budget that's why I am able sometimes to still have enough for fare to work the next month...it's not really as much but I try to use it wisely.

I sort of do it now...although I have an overdraft and a bit of savings. Normally I don't look at my bank as it is so depressing

@Jam4321 I think you have to check your bank account from time to time to ensure you do not overspend. I checked my account every few days to ensure I have enough money to use.

That is why I hated regular job, I rather do online job because your earning limitless. However if without the full time job you mentioned you cannot survive then you have to find other part time job or you can spend wisely. Save for the rainy days.

When we were young and crazy we did live from paycheck to paycheck, We increased our education, looked for better jobs and learned how to budget our money. We had a calendar and wrote on it. We figured what we had to spend on housing , gas, the essentials and how much was left over had to last the month for food and any extras. It wasn't easy but it did work and we cut up all our credit cards and when we finally got them paid off, we still didn't get another. Now retired with money we do have credit cards but we pay them at the end of every month so we PAY NO INTEREST...

Yes...not only that, only one pay and you have to feed the whole family... In the end, you work and work and you spend what you earn on something else. It's life. But make sure don't skip meals even if you don't have enough money... You need to be healthy to be able to work and earn money so you can pay bills...
