Started driving in Illinois in snow and ice. living in texas it seem like the drivers panic when they see ice or even maybe little very little amounts of snow. accidents left and right. Why when people are not use to driving in such conditions they drive worse then they would on dry land????

It would be very dangerous driving under those conditions.

People just don't really understand that you can't rely on your brakes as much when it's slippery (you have to go slower).

Because if you're not used to it you have no idea how slippery it is. Even good drivers get into accidents in snow, ice, and even rain.
