I have my ultrasound today.

Perth, Australia
January 16, 2017 5:27pm CST
As some of you already know, I started off my new year spending many hours at the hospital and went back a second time about 2 or 3 days after. To which that time and the only time ever, a doctor said that my symptoms sounded like I have gallstones. When I told my dad he said that he couldn't believe he never thought of that before. Because he told me that my mum was constantly doing what I have been doing for many years. I would be up and down having hot baths or heating up the heat pack to put on my stomach and then my back cause they would both be in pain. And apparently all the women on my mums side have all had their gallbladder out and some men on my dads side so maybe I have to have mine out too. We shall see. I will keep you guys updated but I hope it is something that can be fixed. I can't wait til it's over because I have to fast for me to have the ultrasound done and I am hungry! Til then, hope you all have a great day / night.

@VivaLaDani13 How are they going to treat the gallstone, or remove it? When I was little, my mom had gallstones, and they had to do surgery to remove them. Don't they just blast them with a laser or something these days?

@moffittjc I haven't seen my doctor yet to discuss which method is going to be used to get rid of it. I have heard of it being blasted but don't know if that will be the case for me.

If it's a gallstone, you'll be operated on, won't you? Away with the thing! :-)

@VivaLaDani13 Hey! It's good to know that it is so very common right? You can have your doubts cleared by people who actually went through it after meeting the doctor.

Oh yeah! It's 17th today. Best of luck for the appointment. So, it runs in the family, huh? That again poses the question why didn't previous doctor bothered checking family history. It's one of the things they ask when they start treatments like asking about allergies, etc. so they could prescribe right medicines. Till then enjoy tummy concert since you are fasting for the ultrasound.

I had gallstones back in the late 1990s. You have to be careful I didn't know I had any problems and then one day there was more pain and it was puffed up. They said I needed to get the infection under control and then they removed my gallbladder. Now problem ever since so I hope you get good results, the right diagnosis and perhaps these day even a simple laser operation. Blessings to you.

@RasmaSandra Yeah exactly. I have had it since I was 15 and none of us including the doctors thought it being gallstones. And I understand totally what you mean about the pain! It's the most horrible pain I've ever felt! Glad yours has been removed!

@Daljinder I had regular surgery not laser which wasn't available but I would have preferred. I was in the hospital a week after the surgery and then went home. I have no problems and I believe they gave me instructions about food and drink. I never read that I just started eating and drinking what I wanted and I have been fine ever since. My operation was in 1998 of I remember correctly. My hubby still has the gallstone in a small, plastic capsule. lol However I think you will have less hospital time if you have laser surgery and of course do follow doctors instructions. Best of luck to you and as I said don't stress it everything will be just fine. Virtual hugs.

Feel better. I'm sure it can be fixed by having it removed during surgery. My dad had his removed a long time ago. I believe it's small.
