Clouds Moving In for a Week of Rain!

The clouds have been rolling in all day. We are expecting to have several storms pass through, bringing us several inches of rain. They say 40 percent of California is no longer in a drought and, by next week, most of the rest of the California will be out of drought, too. Isn't that good news? Interestingly, the only day during the next week which is expected to be somewhat dry is Saturday ... the day of the Women's Marches. We need the rain, so I am looking forward to limiting my time outdoors. Hope you are all having pleasant weather, no matter where you are.

I know it is the most exciting news isn't it that finally, the drought will be over in most of California.

@BelleStarr - It is a real relief to know that the drought will be over ... at least until the next time. By then, perhaps the de-salination plants will be finished, which will ease some of the problems.

@Tampa_girl7 - Rain at night is not too bad, as long as you can enjoy sunshine during the day!

@Plethos - That sounds like what we are expecting too ... rain on Thursday, Friday, maybe Saturday, definitely Sunday and probably Monday. Maybe even on Tuesday. We should definitely be out of the drought by then.

@sans224 - The last few years, there have been times when California went seven or eight months without rain. This month's rain has been a true blessing.

YES! It will be nice to hear official word that all of CA is out of the drought . . . I just hope it stays this way - we've been waiting a LONG time! It was nice to have a break this week from it . . . it was sunny but still chilly . . . I'm thrilled to be getting this rain again.

@DeborahDiane Are you in heavy rain right now? The past half hour it has been pouring here . . . can you imagine that - saying "pouring" in Southern California?

@much2say - It was pouring down rain for most of the day, and I had an appointment at my local Kaiser, so I had to get out in it. Yucky ... but at least everything went OK. In fact, it is raining here right now! Hopefully, the rain will be past by the time I attend the Women's March on Saturday morning.

@much2say - I agree that it has been far too long since our state had enough water. I am thrilled to get the rain!

I loved having all that rain, but the powers that be in San Luis Obispo County still say we are in a drought. We did have a bit of flooding where the fires were.

@DeborahDiane Sometimes I think they just keep telling us there's still a drought so they can keep regulating our water use.

@bagarad - The floods after a week of rain can be the biggest problem. It is hard to believe we have any drought at the moment, but I guess that's true.

@bagarad - Ha Ha! You could be right. Of course, conserving water is always a good idea. We never know when we could have another shortage!

@PatZAnthony - I am sorry it rained during the March in Charlotte. Today we were able to march in chilly sunshine. It was the only day this week in which it did not rain, so we were very lucky!

With milder temperatures we've had rain & only a coating here & the of snow. A big storm is supposed to hit our area over the weekend but who knows.

I'm glad to hear that you are getting some relief from your drought conditions out in California! All that rain is a blessing in disguise. Has there been any mudslides as a result of the rain?

@moffittjc - Yes, there has been some minor mudslides and a large number of trees fell over, causing damage to some homes and cars. So far, however, there has not been any deaths. We are about to start another round of three days of rain, so that could be dangerous since the ground is so saturated. Today, during the Women's March, was the only day of sunshine we have had. It worked out perfectly for us!

I heard that on the news about the much-needed rainfall for your state. That is good news. We are having a very mild winter, our temperatures this week are in the high 40's and low 50's. Its nice, but when you are used to wearing a winter coat at this time of the year, its a bit odd.
