My beef

It is probably my only beef since I started reading and writing online and I have mentioned it before, probably here but definately elsewhere - I am consistent! Tragedies happen, there is loss of life, injured, homeless and many other repercussions. There are journalists, photographers, cameramen and many others involved in reporting the tragic events and those people earn a living for doing just that. Other people, ordinary people like you and me, should NOT - in my opinion, get information from their information and earn by doing so Earning from the tragedies of others is just so wrong! When I see posts or articles online written by people who were not on the scene of an event and are just using other peoples' misery to earn for themselves, I see red! I may have an opinion about a tragedy and write about my opinion but never ever would I quote the work of others who were paid to be on the scene, to earn for myself Would you?

If I understood correctly, I should not reprint an article by a newspaper or magazine in order to earn money, is that what you mean? I think that is called plagiarism and is forbidden on most forums online. I'm not sure I really understand what you mean. Pleeeze splain Lucy .....

If you write a few sentences about how you feel about a published article, post a link to that article, then it's not plagiarism.

I don't think that's what @mysdianait meant @AbbyGreenhill did you read her discussion?

@rebelann I was responding to your comment about plagiarism, not her post. Which is why my comment is under yours. If it was a comment to her it would not have been tabbed in under yours.

Although I agree with your point, I also have to point out that if it weren't for you all people sharing things going around your countries etc., people like me and many others wouldn't know about those things. I can barely keep up with what is going on in my own country or heck my city. It is helpful/informative to hear things from your end. It makes us realize that sufferings aren't only on our side. You suffer too. And that very thing brings us much closer on humane level.

When I shared the information yesterday I added a link with the relevant information but I did not post about how the peolple are grieving or give examples of the difficulties etc (as I explained in an earlier comment here). Informing is one thing but speculating on someone else's grief is, in my opinion, nothing more than scrounging and hitting the emotions of others to get rewards for yourself. That I do not agree with one bit

Unfortunately there will always be people in the world who just want to earn a quick buck and don't care how they do so.

We are saddened by the News about Italy and specially since they have suffered another Earthquake. Hope to goodness they find others alive and of course there is a lot of people and stories involved there is bound to be. When an Earthquake happens here we here about it for days on end. The last bad one was in Lorca and that was ages ago. But we do get tremors indeed we do.

Yes reports about each quakes make the headlines for a long time here too. In fact it is since last August that tremors continue in that area and never a day goes by without someone mentioning it on one channel or another, in one paper or another. While the people doing so are doing it as their job then that is fine but when others start speculating on the grif others I have no time for it at all. That was my point here

@lovinangelsinstead21 Yes I notice too that some disasters are not given any space at all on the media. I guess it depends on what other things are happening at the time. I am intrigued about how your parrot reacted. So she was able to predict the earthquake long before it happened I know that animals often know when it will rain or snow before it happens but I have not read about parrots also having that type of perception. Maybe that should be studied by scientists to see if it could be used to save lives too.

@mysdianait I reckon any animal will show you what is going on its knowing how to see what they are telling us. She is a very sensitive Parrot so I guess she must have been very much in touch with the Earth as she knows it. A woman next door to me killed herself and the Parrot the day before and the day after it happened shouted all day long it was a really dreadful day for me as I was on my own but I understood that Guacho as I called her was picking up the bad vibes coming from that house. Yes News is only shown how they want it to be shown. For example we have not heard anything more about the rescue of any possiblly alive people out of the Snow accident.

Reporting about incidents like that are okay, I think as long as it's part of the news. Once it gets extended and includes sordid details then it becomes a problem.

Yes those 'sordid details' are exactly what I am talking about here. Those can only be reported correctly by those who are there, either because it is their job or because they live in the places concerned or were involved directly in the tragedies.
