Do you pay attention to warnings?

What is a warning? A warning can be sounded as an announcement, notice or bulletin that is given to alert the public to an imminent hazard or danger (as a tornado, thunderstorm, or flood) that is coming where action is to be taken. During a war there can be alarms sounded to warn or airplanes coming to drop bombs. The weatherman may give a warning of some hazardous weather that is on the horizon and will soon strike an area. Many a lives have been saved when a warning is given early enough for people to take some evasive action. Imagine a weatherman that sees a storm approaching and does not sound a warning? How would you feel? How would he be viewed? God at times wants certain warnings to be given. Notice one: Ezekiel 3:17-18 New International Version (NIV) 17 “Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the people of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 18 When I say to a wicked person, ‘You will surely die,’ and you do not warn them or speak out to dissuade them from their evil ways in order to save their life, that wicked person will die for their sin, and I will hold you accountable for their blood. Yes, if God gives us a warning to sound out and we failed to do so, He would hold us accountable and we could lose our lives. Christians are commanded to sound a warning of a change in world rulership that is expected to soon take place. Daniel 2:44 New International Version (NIV) 44 “In the time of those kings, the God of heaven will set up a kingdom that will never be destroyed, nor will it be left to another people. It will crush all those kingdoms and bring them to an end, but it will itself endure forever. Will we sound the warning? Will we heed the warning? How do you view warnings? Do you pay attention to warnings? --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- 2 Timothy 4:1-2 New International Version (NIV) 4 In the presence of God and of Christ Jesus, who will judge the living and the dead, and in view of his appearing and his kingdom, I give you this charge: 2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction. 1 Timothy 4:16 New International Version (NIV) 16 Watch your life and doctrine closely. Persevere in them, because if you do, you will save both yourself and your hearers.

Great! We are all wise to do so, both to sound the warnings and to heed the warnings. It can save many lives, including our own and our families.

I have no doubt! What are your thoughts on Revelation 7:1-3 New International Version (NIV) 1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. He called out in a loud voice to the four angels who had been given power to harm the land and the sea: 3 “Do not harm the land or the sea or the trees until we put a seal on the foreheads of the servants of our God.”

Yes, I remember reading how when Katrina hit New Orleans, USA Today said that long-standing warnings about just such disaster had been either ignored or only met with a half-hearted response.

You are wise as hurricanes can be deadly. Galveston, 1900: 8,000 to 12,000 deaths. Wikipedia. ... San Felipe Okeechobee, 1928: 2,500 deaths. ... Hurricane Katrina, 2005: 1,200 deaths. ... Atlantic-Gulf, 1919: 600 to 900 deaths. ... Hurricane Audrey, 1957: 416 deaths. ... Hurricane Sandy, 2012: 285 deaths. ... New England, 1938: 256 deaths. ... Hurricane Camille, 1969: 256 deaths. This is something to think about. Revelation 7:1-3 New International Version (NIV) 1 After this I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding back the four winds of the earth to prevent any wind from blowing on the land or on the sea or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel coming up from the east, having the seal of the living God. God has warned people many times in the past, and he sends his servants to warn in our time too. This is because he loves us and wants to save as many as possible. Montreal will have a lot of snow on Tuesday, so please take care!!
Don’t get used to the balmy weather, Montreal. Winter is coming back.

We have been warned to stay home unless it is absolutely necessary. We had freezing rain with many accidents and injuries and it is snowing now. Many events have been cancelled for the day. I have no plans for going out.

@1hopefulman It is great that you can help to remove the snow, before the friends are coming.. not everyone can do this work. And I am happy that you enjoy the snowstorm!

@buenavida I went out to shovel the snow at our Kingdom Hall (place of worship). One needs to be careful but I was dressed well with snow-pants and a hood. A lot of snow fell and the sidewalks are hard to walk on. The wind sends snow-pellets in your face. But I like to be in snowstorms and so it was a thrill to be out, Of course, caution is necessary.

I pay attention to warnings, as weather warnings are there to make you aware of the conditions in the area. People need to be safe. I know we had flooding in my area recently and people had to be rescued.

Yes, it is the sensible thing to do if we value our lives. If we see that some people are not aware of the warning, we will even pass on the warning so others to may find safety.

I feel the same way! Romans 15:4 New International Version (NIV) 4 For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

Yes, it was the first time since my dad passed away where I have had people over for a meal that I partly prepared. Before this I would just take people to a restaurant. That was the lazy way of entertaining. Yes, it pays to heed warnings, from weather warnings to even more serious warnings.

I think warnings are very important and should be taken seriously. Like the sign that says Men at Work so there could be holes around so watch where you walk.
