RUDE AWAKENING

This morning at 3 A.M I was jolted awake by the sound of several loud gunshots - eight at least - and I wasn't dreaming - other members of the household heard them as well.
Now, this is not the city, it is a lovely area in the country where criminal activity is minimal. Our home is on a slight incline , just opposite the main road which leads into town, and our neighbors on both sides are not too close.
This incident has made me realize that in these days, nowhere is totally safe - not even in the country. Today I will try to find out what the shooting was all about.

@Kandae11 but how did the police authorities manage the situation? if the neighborhood is silent about it, i think there is something wrong, right?

I don't like to hear shooting. It is alarming. I hope you find out what was going on. Sadly, these days shooting breaks out anywhere.

That is a little weird at 3am @Kandae11 . Here at my place (country) if there's gunfire, it's usually someone shooting at wild hogs or a pack of coyotes.

@Kandae11 I've got cats, so they'd probably be under the couch.

No wild game in my area. What made it even more frightening is that whenever you hear news about gunmen entering homes for the purpose of murder or robbery, their usual time frame is between 2a.m. and 3a.m. I think that is the time they expect the occupants to be in deep sleep.

That must have been very scary. I also live in a neighborhood where that's the last thing I'd expect to hear

That could be so frightening...when crime reaches into the rural areas. Hope you are safe.
