After blatantly stealing the idea for a list of favorite "light" songs from @teamfreak16 I thought I'd expand on the idea and include my ten favorite "dark" songs: songs with the word dark in the title. Here's the first one, and it may be a shock to some. #10: On the Dark Side - John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band From the "guilty pleasure" department, I bring you one of the most overplayed Bruce Springsteen rip offs you're ever going to hear. In fact, if John Cafferty didn't sound like a Springsteen who can annunciate a little better then the Boss, I doubt either this song or the movie Eddie and the Cruisers, which featured the song, would have been a big hit. But it was, and I liked it because it was just straight ahead rock without being too pretentious or hair metal-ly. I honestly don't know if I ever saw the entire Eddie and the Cruisers movie but I did like this song. And I still do. Forgive me. On the Dark Side Written by John Cafferty Recorded by John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band From Eddie and the Cruisers, 1983 From out of the shadows she walks like a dream (gee, hope this song doesn't make John's "12 Songs I Loathe" list! ):

There was actually a sequel to Eddie and the Cruisers. I remember when the movie came out and On the Dark Side was a hit and the Springsteen comparison was in play from the start. It's actually a decent song and you are right: Cafferty sounds better than the braying of the Boss.

I can't tell you how many times I saw that movie. Why? I don't know. I guess it was the music. I do believe I even had the album.
