Why do most women like high heels?

My girlfriend is addicted to these types of shoes (I cann't even count how many she has) and today, one of them broke. She wasn't very happy. I told her it was just a shoe, and she gave me a "sermon" (I think I'd better keep quiet 
) explaining why the shoe isn't just a shoe.
I'm still not convinced, and I decided to ask you that. I think a more elaborate answer is more likely to come for a woman, but any man - if he wants to - can also try to "unravel" this mistery.

Well, it does look uncomfortable when your not in the wearing it. But for the women, it makes them feel good but mom doesn't wear that much anymore.

for one a lot of heels are expensive-so when one breaks it really pisses you off..
and often a lot of women wear them to look taller,so there's that "special" factor.
the only time i wear them myself is for special events.i am short,but to be honest i prefer platforms.they don't hurt my feet as much.

Blame it on fashion or trend setters. They have thrown in those high healed shoes and so women who are trend followers will go for them no matter how inconvenient or torture borne they could be.

A lot of them are pretty, and woman like to feel good in them, if they can walk in them. For me walking in them all day is too much. I am never in them any more, I like comfortable shoes, and high heels are not comfortable for me.

I wish I knew. I admit they are very pretty and it is hard to find comfortable shoes that are also pretty. However the trade off is for extreme pain in my feet, therefor comfort wins for me at least.

High heels is the ultimate mark of fashion.It adds elegance to legs and reflects your fashion sense.However I don't prefer wearing high heels as I feel sport shoes are much comfortable.

High heels make a woman's legs look longer and sexier. But they are also painful, leading to back and foot problems. We love how we look in them, but we pay a high price for it!
