Over here if you were born here, we need our birth certificate a photo and a form to be completed. Every country have their own procedure. Find out from your government.

on "Quora," they answer, "Visit Passport Seva, Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India website (linked-to at the link ). Register an account and apply for a fresh passport by entering all your details. Then make a payment through net banking or genrate a challan and pay in your nearby SBI bank. In case of a challan it would take 3 working days to get updated. "Then once the challan info gets updated i.e., after 3 days fix an appointment online. A paper with an acknowledgement for your application would appear take a print-out of it and go to your designated passport seva kendra on time or before the appointment. After all the procedures on the day, it would take one month for you to get your passport. "Most importantly keep all your documents perfect and available. "In case of normal fresh passport application it would cost you Rs. 1500"

Apply for passport either online at passport service kendra or visit your nearest passport office. Fill the form and you will get passport interview in 2 to 3 business days. Once you submit all the required documents, a police official from your nearest police station will visit your house in about 1 month time. Then you will get the passport in a week or so...
