Do You Have a Kid in College?

There's a new show on TV called 'Campus PD' on the Spike channel on Tuesday nights and as the title states, it's about the police who cover college campuses. A lot of kids at the age of 18 and away from home think there are no boundaries when it comes to the trouble they can get into. In Albuquerque, New Mexico, 48% of the students admit to binge drinking and in Carrolton, Georgia, $162 million dollars a year is spent on booze. I think the worst statistic was for Cincinnati, Ohio, where $1 Billion a year is spent on alcohol by students. DUI's, wrecks, assaults, rapes; all due to the drinking problem on campuses. Not to mention the health issues related to the large consumption of alcohol. It's one thing to 'escape' the family home and the rules therein; it's quite another to be a total idiot.
You needn’t look further than the nightly news to find examples of college drinking and all the dangers they can bring to your campus.

My eldest is at college and will be at university at the end of next year. He lives with his Dad at the moment. He'll probably be moving away when he goes to university. He is unbelievably sensible! His social life currently consists of eating pizza in the maths room once a week. If he sticks to that kind of rebellion, I don't think there's going to be too much trouble with binge drinking!

I was very lucky with my two sons when they went away to college. They rarely saw me drink and grew up believing getting drunk is one of the dumbest things a human being can ever do. They still believe that.

Thankfully all my children are adults now and long past the college years. I am happy that none of my grandchildren are at those college age years yet

No kids here... it is unfortunate that those party hearty types are at college to begin with, get it out of their systems and then go... don't waste your college experience
