We believe in sharing everything....

.....including our germs Yes, I will share with you here on myLot but I share much differently here at home. As you know I have been sick this week. This morning I decided it was time to see the doc and get some antibiotics. Also this morning my husband said, "my throat hurts"....and as we know that's the beginning. I asked if he wanted an appointment too and he said, 'no'....I shouldn't have asked. I called the doc at 8:30 and the girl gave me 11 am appointment but said they were so busy it would be a long wait. OK, I can live with that. While driving there he said maybe he should see the doc. I thought, you had your chance and you turned it down. But being the nice person I am once I singed in I asked if he could be worked in with me. The girl working the desk sorta told me again how busy they were (4 people in the waiting room isn't busy!) One of the other girls in there overheard and said to the first girl, you can put them both in the same room, not a problem. We were called in at 11 on the button, did the bp and all that jazz, shown to an exam room, waited 4 minutes for the doc...he checked us both out and we were next door at the pharmacy picking up our antibiotics by 11:20. I'm on road to recovery from this and my husband is just starting so wish me luck that I don't get it back again! We have matching his and hers antibiotics! This togetherness is sometimes too much! You got really good prompt service, lucky you. I've got shingles at the moment but I don't think it's contagious - I hope not because my husband wouldn't be able to cope with it as well as me.

They say anyone who had chicken pox has the shingles virus in them...that's a whole lot of people who can get it @jaboUK

@sueznewz2 Oh well I had it for a fortnight before I knew what it was, and though we've taken precautions since, if he is going to get it it's probably too late. But it begs the question - how did I get it? I've hardly mixed with anyone lately.

@jaboUK it's only contagious when the spots/blisters are wet... after that you're ok... but like you say... how did you get it... ?

I thanked the doc for seeing us on short notice and he said that's how it should be !! He's a local boy (very small town) who grew up here and wanted his practice here. He's very community oriented and goes a lot for the county.

I also shared the flu with my husband the past month. I told him to work in the other room and not to use the computer next to mine, he did not listen, we shared.

It all about sharing. There is no reason he should not be able to share your discomfort. You were fortunate that the doctor would see you both.

This doctor does not overbook - he leaves room for walk ins and makes sure he has time for everyone. He never rushes anyone. I really like him.

This happens and at times when me and Tony both needed to see the doctor for just refills they would put us together in a room, cause he cant remember nothing for talking to much about nothing.

I always go with my husband due to the fact he doesn't hear everything so I have to pay attention for him. But in this case no need for me to get well and him still be sick.

That was cool that they got you in the same room at the same time. Never have checked if they can do things like that here, but that sure kills 2 birds with one stone.

One great thing about our doc - he doesn't overbook - we very seldom sit in the waiting room more than 5 mins before getting called back to the exam room area. He purposely leaves enough time to accommodate patients with lots of questions and/or walk ins.

When you breath in the same air hand sanitizer isn't any help.

what bugs me is, when they turn down what you KNOW they need, and later are all 'yeah I need that', there have been times, like when taking a jacket or getting a snack, I just quietly do it anyways, because I get tired of it, lol, I KNOW later I will be right.

Your story sounds so much like ours i.e. my hubby and me. We really share everything - -what we eat, what we watch and where we go. We also share our docs visits- - back-to-back. Are,'t we lucky @AbbyGreenhill

So do you pass on the illnesses to each other or both pick up from others? Do you get sick all the time at the same time?

Hi Abby! I know that feeling all too well being sick along with your partner. Glad you are feeling better. Hope it works out for you both. It sounds too me that you have a good relationship with your husband. Marriage is for sharing.

Oh yes, marriage is for sharing but we need to give these germs to the wind and let the fly away.
